A lot has changed in 20 years. You can't just assume that the results are the same in 2026.

Why do people keep saying this when there is no data to go on? It is commonly accepted that the AFL watching audience are leaving 7 for Fox/Kayo in droves since Fox has started doing its own commentary for each game.

I see you're still struggling to cope with the penalty try awarded to the Storm late in the 1999 Grand Final.

Why bring race into it? There's plenty of players of indigenous and African descent, among others.

So you're only allowed to talk about AFL if you're saying its crap or bagging its ratings? Insecure much?

They run for different lengths so not directly comparable. For example, I watched the NRL in its entirety but switched to the AFL for the half time break and after the NRL had finished so ended up watching around 45 minutes of the Crows game in addition to the full Storm game.

Both the NRL and AFL last night were close, highly entertaining matches between genuine premiership contenders. The only lowlight was the referee bias towards the Broncos in awarding the visitors soft penalties at cruicial moments.

I think I've seen a bigger Storm home crowd at Marvel Stadium, but that may have been for a preliminary final

Don't presume you know anything about me. I've been watching and attending Rugby League games since the days of Robbie Ross and Marcus Bai.

Just explaining that 48,000 people didn't watch on TV as they were actually at the game, a concept which may be foreign to most Sydneysiders.

There was 47,945 at the MCG to be fair. The fan culture in Melbourne is to attend the games to support your club, not stay home and sit on the couch.

I'm not talking about reach. I'm saying AFL had a higher average for the 2 hour block in which both sports overlapped.

Given the AFL covers a 3 hour block and NRL 2 hours, it's actually more likely the AFL won the competing timeslot. Seven's press release confirms this, but it was very close. One thing that is clear, the 9NOW streaming ratings are way ahead of 7+.

10 is a basket case. Its ratings share often struggles to nudge 10%. No major sporting code will want their games on the network.

If the games on a Sunday were as follows: 2pm Storm v Warriors 4pm Bulldogs v Cowboys 6pm Knights v Bears Nine air the 4pm game into NSW/QLD as usual. However it would be better to grow the game overall if VIC instead got the Storm game on FTA, and WA got the Bears game on FTA instead of the...
