After listening to Gyngell at the presser, the over/under should be 19.9999 recurring.

I like a good breaking news story.

The T.V Rights Thread Part III

There was mention in one of the reports about how the deal includes innovative ways of getting the broadcast feed out to tablets and mobiles. Not sure whether that means, really.

The T.V Rights Thread Part III

I wonder how long it will take for the players to start arking up for a bigger salary cap. The AFL experience has been that the players got shafted, as much of the $1.253B went into the new franchises and expanding the football departments of existing clubs, i.e. paying for more and more...

The T.V Rights Thread Part III

AFAIK we're still waiting on the detail, could be as expansive as the AFL deal. If I was Foxtel I wouldn't have paid the best part of $1 billion for anything less than nine live games.

The T.V Rights Thread Part III

$1 billion is a bloody good result. Devil is in the detail with these things sometimes, so it will be interesting to see how much is contra, and whether it includes the Internet rights. Big number nonetheless.

    ARLC report card thus far?

One thing is clear: Loudstrat is not qualified to work for the ARLC doing anything involving numbers. ;)

    ARLC report card thus far?

All of their focus should be on the TV rights negotiations, as it seems to be. If they manage to get anywhere north of $800 mill with somewhat favourable (and enforceable) conditions, the ARLC will have been well worth it. You can't go from reverse to 100kph in one gear change, ECT.

    Devastated - RL1908.com

It's a sad event for Australian sport, let alone RL. I hope Sean has his mind changed for him by someone reaching out and making his financial model work again.

The TV rights thread part II

It's perfectly reasonable for the league to have a contingency plan for cutting Foxtel out of negotiations. Apart from anything else, it lets Foxtel know that they're not irreplaceable.
