Please specify which Giants game got a crowd of 4,000. COVID years of 2020-21 don't count.

It's been a key part of the current and previous AFL broadcast deals that all games played by the SA, WA, QLD and NSW teams are broadcast on FTA into their home markets. These are usually live but games played on Saturdays in the first 10 rounds are delayed by up to 2 hours due to Foxtel's...

This is exactly why Allianz should be used for more teams instead of dilapidated suburban venues like Shark Park and Kogarah.

I'm mainly just playing devil's advocate for the AFL because most of you guys are so biased to the point of ignorance. At least The Wookie and Perth Red can see more than one perspective and contribute reasonable discourse. I do love both AFL and NRL, I don't like them always trying to one up...

Yet only 15k of them could be bothered going to Accor Stadium last night to see two local teams play? Some "fans".

You take every chance to belittle and undermine the Swans success, yet display a South Melbourne heritage jumper as your profile pic...

Crowd averages took a steep fall in 2012 when the Suns and Giants came into the comp however the aggregate continued to rise as there were more games. The average has now slowly recovered and improved back to what it was before the expansion teams were introduced. This is clear growth, not sure...

You're assuming there are only two categories of tickets: SCG Members General Admission Well actually there are Reserved Seat Club Memberships that make up a large portion of the crowd at every AFL game. I have no idea how many Swans have, but it would be at least 10k, more likely 15k. If these...

Cherry picking stats to match your preferred narrative as usual. The Gabba crowd capacity has been reduced by approx 6,000 over the same period due to infrastructure upgrades, including installation of new screens and a pool deck. Sydney Swans made the decision not to play at Accor which...

Funny you should mention that because on the Friday of Gather Round, AFL CEO Andrew Dillon flew back to Melbourne for a high-powered business meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell at the MCG. The pair discussed future cross-promotional opportunities between the leagues. I don't believe...

Probably because fans go to games? If I was a Swans fan living in Sydney I'd be at every SCG game in person. And I wouldn't watch away games on 7/7mate, I'd watch on Fox. The supporter base thing is substantiated by a Roy Morgan survey. The Swans have the biggest fan base in Sydney. Now...

I just said there is potential because the Gabba is being sold out at current capacity (34k) for most Lions games. In a brand new 60k stadium, average crowds of 45k+ are not beyond reason.

Serious question: what ratings do you honestly think the Perth Bears will get in Perth?

Did I say AFL was taking over in NSW and QLD? Teams like the Swans and Lions can still be a success without dominating the local market. Just as I'd consider Storm as a success in Melbourne whilst the NRL will obviously never overtake the AFL in market share here.

Rupert Murdoch and Kerry Packer obviously thought so given they were literally kicked out of the comp.

That's cool, but: Sydney: the Swans arguably have a bigger supporter base than any of the Sydney NRL clubs, and easily draw bigger home game crowds than any of them. The Perth Bears is proof the relocation model has worked as the NRL are copying what the VFL did with South Melbourne in 1982...

Tasmania FC literally is an existing club, participating in the VFL competition this year. The Devils play Carlton in Hobart next Saturday night. I never said those leagues were bigger than the NRL, obviously they are not. I just see them as being national, whereas the NRL in my opinion is not...

Remind again what the "N" in NRL stands for? The NRL has about as much chance as becoming global as Tehran does of obtaining an NFL franchise.
