It's happened on three occasions, however the most recent spanned seasons. 1976, Rd 1, St George backing up after the 75 GF, and Souffs losing 0-54 to Manly in the last round of 75. Drags 31-10.

It's then back to 1917, and the other in 1910.

The last time it happened was in 1917

Round 3, 1917
West lost to Balmain 21-0
Norths lost to Glebe 26-0

Round 4, 1917
Wests beat Norths 26-6

And trust me, I've checked the scorelines for every season from this one back to then.

Thanks Madunit...I knew it would have to be a rare occurance...and for it to not have happened for 92 yrs is pretty remarkable.

And just for everyone, in 1917, both those teams were fighting with Annandale for the spoon.

Beat me to it as well madunit. Nice waste of a couple of hours. Cheers Saab. :D

I did dig up quite a few examples of teams failing to score a try the week before and playing each other the following week, the most recent being Souths vs Cronulla in round 15 2007, having both been held tryless the previous week (but scoring penalty goals). I found a few where one team was held to 0, and the other only scored a penalty goal.

Also, there's been 10 double bagels, with one in recent memory: Wests Tigers going 0-50 & 0-56 in successive games in 2004.

However, Brisbane v Cronulla often finishes 16-12, or least a 12 or 16 in there somewhere.

That was the 78th time it had happened, 1999 the next most recent example.

Not only that but in 2004 the Tigers were held to nil in their other clash with the Roosters, so they were held to nil in both clashes by the same team in the one year.

Broncos to win 16-12.

Those 2 teams love that scoreline. I'm sure it's happened in about 4 of their past 8 matches.

0-0 was 1982 Canterbury v Newtown at Henson Park , on a cold overcast day.
What a waste of 80 minutes no one involved will ever get back

I think this is why Soccer will never truly rule Australia like the rest of the world.

If this game was at Toyota it'd be such a f**king rubbish crowd.

I can see sub 20k at Brisbane for the first time in a while...

92 years! wow. You know a record is ancient if Norths have won a premiership in the time it took for it to be matched
