NRL Preview and Tips - Round 22
BY Paul Zines
These two teams would have to be the most over-achieving in this year’s competition. Both were inflicted with heavy defeats last weekend and this now becomes a must-win game. Canberra was very much in the match against Brisbane and the score-line failed to acknowledge this. They are back at home where they love to play. This week they are up against another team that also enjoys throwing the ball around.
Joe Picker returns for the home-side replacing Melbourne bound Ryan Hinchcliffe, who could miss the rest of the year with a broken thumb. I tipped the Panthers to beat the competition leaders last Friday night and they let me down terribly. They look disorganised and complacent as they tried to match the Sea Eagles instead of playing their usual exciting brand of footy.
Half-back Todd Carney is still having his problems sorted out by the Canberra club as Marc Herbert continues to fill his shoes with plenty of confidence.
Penrith have only won one of the last seven matches between the two sides. Expect a very high scoring affair especially if the weather stays dry, but I can’t go past the home-side.
