Are you saying you missed crocker chose to go missing after the altercation with Kite ?

What the hell does that have to do with what i asked? :sarcasm:

I asked a legitimate question because to me what you were saying implied that Manly weren't committed enough after their harass and bash tactics didn't quite come off last week.

Well it was related. I couldnt help myself with the crocker dig. Ive watched the tape a number of times & he definitely goes AWOL.

In terms of the Manly being "committed enough" i actually think their tactics came off well. We might have lost the battle on the day due to the brilliance of Slater and the (cough) ref (cough). But in any case our team came away very pleased with our performance, as they know they have more up their sleeve confident in winning the war.

I read a quote from O'Meley in an article saying that Willie has always wanted to play at lock and this week he will be getting his chance

Roosters hardman Mark O'Meley has credited Manly for producing the blueprint to stop Melbourne's surge towards a second straight premiership.
An impressed O'Meley watched last week's Sea Eagles-Storm match from his lounge-room, coming away impressed with the way Manly attacked the game despite losing 16-10.
Des Hasler's men were in the visitors' face all night and weren't prepared to be out-bullied, rattling the normally composed Storm line-up.
O'Meley took note as he prepares to lead the Roosters' assault on Melbourne at Olympic Park this Friday night.
"I thought Manly was probably the better team on Friday night. They just couldn't finish the game off," the shaven-haired prop said on Tuesday.
"They played a simple, basic game through the middle."
"I saw how intense that game was and thought 'gee, it's going to be pretty hectic for us next Friday night'."
"The tempo's certainly picked up coming into the final end of the season and that's the way games will be played over the next month."
"Melbourne are certainly going to have that intensity and we're preparing to match them."
Roosters centre Sia Soliola was another impressed by the Sea Eagles' approach to last week's epic.
"That was the game of the year. Manly showed some good intensity and that's what we want to try and replicate this week," he said.
O'Meley added: "Melbourne just grind teams, work the ruck and take their opportunities when they come."
"They'll wait 70 minutes until that opportunity."
"It's going to be pretty physical but we've got a game plan and we'll try and stick to that."
The Roosters have shown their intentions by naming a big pack of forwards with plenty of muscle to come off the bench.
Craig Fitzgibbon is missing through injury, giving Willie Mason his shot at lock.
"He's always said he wanted to play No.13. I remember him pestering Steven Folkes to wear that jumper for years," O'Meley grinned.
"I expect a big game from him."

Storm v Roosters Preview

Olympic Park
Friday 7.35pm

WHILE this game is nearly a top-of-the-table clash (second on points differential versus fourth) and both sides still have massive chances of clinching the minor premiership, in truth the gap between their consistency in performance could not be greater.

The Storm have won five of their past six, their only narrow stumble occurring three weeks ago to the Warriors in Auckland.

They smashed the Titans in round 21, then doggedly repelled wave after wave of Sea Eagles attacking raids last week at Brookvale Oval to cement another crucial win over Manly.

But the Roosters?

Look them up in the dictionary and you’d half expect their definition to read “hot and cold”.

They’ve lost three of their past five – including demoralising upsets at the hands of the Titans (at home!), Raiders and Eels. But those losses were sandwiched by two wins including a stirring demolition of the Sea Eagles.

In short, fans just don’t know what to make of them: they could come out and smack the Storm by 20, or they could fail to post a point for the second time this season. (Although, the latter is the more likely.)

Against the Sea Eagles the Storm showed they still know how to grind out a win against the top sides and it’s likely they’ll come up against a similar sort of opponent this week in the Roosters in regards to expansive attack – but while the Sea Eagles’ defence proved resolute the Roosters have some work to do there.

While the Storm side is unchanged from last week it will be a very different Roosters combination to the one that fell to the Eels.

Prolific try-scoring winger Shaun Kenny-Dowall is out until the finals; he’s replaced by the experienced Brent Grose.

In the pack, skipper Craig Fitzgibbon misses the week with an ankle strain – Braith Anasta has been handed the ‘C’ next to his name.

Willie Mason shifts to lock to cover for Fitzy, James Aubusson replaces the dumped Riley Brown at hooker, while Lopini Paea has been elevated to the starting 13.

Shane Shackleton and Toyota Cup pivot Ben Jones are newcomers to the bench with Shaun Foley named 18th man.

Watch out Storm: Brad Fittler knows he won’t beat the Storm in a wrestle.

The Roosters need to smash this game open with plenty of points.

To that end their danger men are Anthony Tupou and Amos Roberts.

Tupou ranks third in the NRL for offloads with 40 and Roberts ranks fifth in the NRL for line breaks with 12.

Put the combination together and the potential is there for some explosive play from anywhere on the park.

Watch out Roosters: Two things to watch.

The first is their compressed defence – the Storm are masterful defenders and won’t get sucked into being forced towards the sidelines by the apparent “vacant” spaces.

Their attacking arsenal doesn’t need to – as illustrated by their brilliant chip, regather, offload try to Israel Folau last week.

Secondly they need to shut down the obvious: Billy Slater.

Most penetrative runner in the NRL (19 line breaks) and top return runner of kicks (1501 metres) by a massive 410 metres over second-ranked Preston Campbell.

Why do teams keep kicking to him?

Where it will be won: If they’re to be a chance the Roosters need to play up-tempo footy in attack but slow the game down when the Storm have the ball.

Ironically, that’s exactly the secret to the Storm’s continuing success.

The Roosters will also rely on another typical workhorse contribution from Kiwi international back Sam Perrett.

He’s darted the ball back 327 times this season, second only to the Tigers’ Chris Heighington; with Kenny Dowell missing every metre he makes will be crucial.

The History: Played 17, Roosters 9, Storm 8. Wow – given the Storm’s imposing record over the past three seasons it’s hard to believe they could have lost back-to-back clashes to any side but that’s what the Roosters have done, winning 26-16 late last year and 10-6 this year, both at the SFS.

The Storm hold a 6-3 advantage at Olympic Park.

Conclusion: There were good signs for other teams last week when Cam Smith was seen whingeing to referee Tony Archer on several occasions about his side not getting a fair deal.

We’re sure it only looked that way to Smith, but the lesson learned is the Storm can become flustered and lose focus when under pressure.

The trick is applying the pressure.

Look for James Aubusson, Smith’s understudy at the Storm before he left to join the tri-colours, to apply plenty of needle to his former ‘mentor’.

This is a must-win game for the Roosters if they are to maintain their dream of a crucial top-two finish.

They’ve been in the frame for a long way this season and the danger now is they are seemingly running out of condition well down the home straight.

The Sea Eagles lost nothing in their gallant defeat last week; the Roosters, should they lose, can’t afford anything less than that sort of loss themselves here.

Match officials: Referee – Shayne Hayne; Sideline Officials – David Abood & Steve Chiddy; Video ref – Bill Harrigan.

Televised: Channel 9 – Live 7.30pm (NSW), delayed 9.30pm (Qld); Fox Sports 2 – Delayed 11.30pm.

I love how the way to beat Melbourne now is to "bash" them out of the game. All because "super coach" Nathan Brown said so.

Edited to add

No, you beat us because we couldnt slow down your quick play the balls. Which dont seem to be as quick now as they were at the start of the year

Well we can both agree that scoring more points helped. :D

Roosters
The Roosters were dismal last week against a desperate Parramatta outfit. They were slow, lazy and didnt give themselves a chance. The win against Melbourne earlier this year, will give the roosters some hope. Anasta and Pearce will be the key to a victory. With Fitzgibbon out, the Roosters will lack leadership and go forward.

Storm
A fantastic result for the Storm last week. They looked strong, powerful and their defence was second to none. They knocked off the eagles and edged closer to the Minor Premiership. Melbourne will be fired up for this one, as they are back in the graveyard.

Prediction
The Storm's form and effort last week, will give them huge confidence. Melbourne will be too strong and will win on Friday.

It's a 'big' game so I expect them to be up for it. O Meley and Sa coming back will be a massive boost. Personally I would not have kept Pillowton in the side. He can take his huge Canberra paycheque and piss off as far as im concerned.

Is O'Meeley finally going to turn up this season...he has gone MIA when actually playing. A disappointing season surely...

Are you being serious or just laying bait? Ogre has been one of our best forwards this year, and if it wasn't for him over the Origin period we would probably be battling it out just to make the 8. Most Roosters fans have given him points in the 3-2-1 consistantly. Sure you ain't thinking of this guy called Willie Mason or Anthony Tupou who have had one great game followed up by 3 bad games?
