The Bias channel 9 commentary was going a little over the top. Talking up the knights ridiculously got old very quickly yet they continued talking them up till the final siren. Of course they looked flashy and dangerous.....that's what happens when you spread the ball on every tackle. They were trying low percentage plays because they were behind and the Broncos played a solid one up game.

Also a beautiful try and solid game for Karmichael Hunt will hopefully be recognised by the Test selectors although the way all the commentators have been hyping up Slater you would think it's a foregone conclusion.

One of their best came in the opening 5 minutes where Vossy hoped the Knights would regain the ball so we could see some awesome footy.

Please...

not really..

can you honestly tell me slater hasn't been hyped up over the top? I'm not denying he is playing extremely well but Hunt is the number 1 no.1 in the game. Hunt will be fullback for QLD so I cannot see why he wouldn't be for Australia. I'd love to see Slater on the wing or off the bench for the maroons though as he has been playing exciting footy.

When fit, Hunt is consitently picked for Origin and Test Matches because his qualities are suited to those type of games. And he is yet to dissapoint.

Does that make him clearly the premier No. 1 in the comp though? Not neccessarily. But it is a subjective topic afterall.

There's so many good No. 1s in the comp these days that offer very different skill sets, qualities and their approach the game.

Back to the game though - just happy to get the points. Both sides had their good and bad moments.

How about that weather, stinking bloody hot in the JoEy stand before kick-off, only get belted with rain for the majority of the game.

after watching every melbourne game this year so far - yes slater has been hyped, and deservedly so. he is playing above any other fullback in the competition, which is a huge feat considering the quality and form of some of the fullbacks running around at the moment.

i do believe JW's point holds weight though - hunts skillset may be more suited to the type of fullback that they are looking for in certain teams. this is the one and only reason i would put hunt in a QLD or Aust. jersey at the moment.

Well thats now the 3rd game where Newcastle have scored the same amount of tries as the winning team... our goalkicking has let us down so badly, Wes needs to step up and take over imo

Well, another week, another equivalent amount of tries scored as the opposition, another loss :(

Those two tries before halftime really killed us off tbh. Simple one on one misses by Taia and Cross and in the blink of an eye, its game over. Good to see that we didn't give up the ghost at 28-8 unlike last year at Suncorp.

I've seen enough from this side over the first 5 rounds of the comp to suggest that if we tighten up our defence, even a little bit, we'll be knocking on the door of the eight come the end of the year.

Oh and Hodges is a grub.

I still think we have the skill level, it just seems the inexperienced or brain snap errors are taking their toll too much.
