LOL

True to form - I know you're looking to bring in the Pig Flu angle mate, but I expected this loss prior to that rubbish.

Despite our decent position on the ladder and a good start to the year, our defense has been piss poor all along. Slowly and surely it is becoming more and more exposed, and despite the usual disruptions around this time of year (which shouldn't be an excuse for us, we do it all the time), that progression is accelerating. A Dog's attack in half-decent form was always going to bring out our weaknesses.

We have a good team and they are certainly capable of being a show in this comp, obviously. But this year they have lacked consistency in defense and their intensity can never be sustained.

Unless there's a distinct improvement by the time we come out of the Origin period, this will just end up being another of those years where we make the 8 reasonably comfortably but are never a real chance of making a push for the title.

Eager to see how we're traveling a few more weeks down the track. We'll need another 2006 effort by the look of it if things continue as they have been in recent times.

I'm hoping they'll get it together. Earlier on in the year in particular I think the forwards were doing a great job in the face of criticism that they were/are lightweights. But the team's defense and defensive attitude has been the one thing that's always needed fixing. Big test for Ivan to see if he can get 'em moving.

As Andrew said, we can probably on go up from here. We'll see.

Just curious why that result was expected, your words not mine.

That game goes to show just how much of an effect missing even 10% of conditioning can have against a top team. We were right in that game, but only for 60 minutes of it. Quite proud of the boys. Haven't heard anything resembling an excuse out of anyone in Brisbane colours.

Hannant has absolutely secured his jersey for game 2, all the ex Broncos played out of their skin really.

Fair play to the Dogs. There were great performances all over the park. They can only play the team put in front of them - but they had to win that game if they were serious about being a premiership contender, especially after the Newcastle debacle.

Not so much their fans. The inbred thugs in front of me tonight only reinforce what I hate about Dogs fans. Making the worst calls all game, sooking whenever Brisbane had a penalty, scrum or anything go our way. Then at the end they had the gall to call us 'whingers' - honestly. What a joke. Best win of their season and they react by acting like a bunch of merkins...uuuugh. I hope you lot get points taken off you again

Can only go up from here. We're not in that horrible a position, but we need to work on our defence, and someone needs to teach Wallace how to kick a ball seemingly. Hope they pick him for Origin 2...heh heh

i understand that we have a few supporters out there that like to stir the pot, but that's a terrible thing to say.

Your guys have been training together since October/November, all players were passed medically fit

You're obviously referring to our limited preparation? Hence the response.

No, bulldogs fans are 'inbred thugs' for carrying themselves like a bunch of inbred thugs.

Simple concept I thought

The term "thugs" generally implies some sort of physical altercation or force used. You're talking about people having opinions, however flamboyant or annoying, at the football. Maybe you're not used to the concept of away supporters? Seriously, suck it up.

...and we have a bite!

Calm down mate, I'm taking the piss

There's a lot to like about the Dogs on the field since the cleanout, just wish they could do that with some of their fans as well. We have some bad seeds as well, just quietly

That result flattered the Broncos. The only reason they were in it at all at half time was due to a couple of extremely soft (and undeserved) penalties. The Dogs were all over them.

yeah i would agree with this ,although Brisbanes tries were scored off field position gained from soft back to back penalties last night the tries were still deserved .One big thing i like about both the Doggies and Broncs are their quality attacks , i dont think any tries were scored off high bombs or high kicks to corner posts last night , mostly fast backline movements or forwards rushing the line ,quality stuff ! Kudos for the effort ,though i'm not going to blame preparation/swine flu - origin would affect brisbane more imo- i think the Broncs know more than we do regarding their current form ,they need to regroup .

Happy our boys stayed with them for the first 40, but FMD that last 30 mins from the Bulldogs was awesome.

No bullsh*t excuses from this corner - we were soundly beaten by a better football team on the night. The Dogs are a damn good side - congrats on the win!

The Donkeys were terrible yesterday, I think they are on the slide. Folau saw hardly any ball, they made no breaks and t appeared it was either the swine flu that got them or it was just that the Dogs are now serious contenders.

I'm sorry but potential premiers do not leak 92 points in 2 games. I think we can realistically rule a line through Brisbanes chances in 09.

I might remind you Canterbury got belted 42-0 by Newcastle in 1995. Also look at Newcastle 2001 - leaked well over 600 points for the season but still won the comp (relied on a Parra choke, but still an amazing effort to win with such shoddy defence).

That result flattered the Broncos. The only reason they were in it at all at half time was due to a couple of extremely soft (and undeserved) penalties. The Dogs were all over them.

Well would you look at that - skeepe pops in to have a go at the refs.

 Skeepe. The Broncos were served no leniancy around the ruck by the referee while the Bulldogs were allowed to niggle constantly. That's not an excuse for the loss rather a praise for their cunning tactics.

First and for most I feel inclined to congratulate the Bulldogs on an impressive victory. To beat us by 22 points no matter how poor the preparation is always something to boast about and considering our rivalry, well it's another impressive chapter for the Bulldogs. I must say it's hard to dislike your boys now considering some of the talent you have at your disposal.

Just on the Broncos I was proud of their effort but their performance I believe was realistic given all the drama off-field. We just had so much on our plate. When you consider Origin, last week's disaster, Clinton's case, the Swine Flu drama and the death of Cyril Connell the weight was just too much to bear. The real telling factor was the lack of preparation in that normally a Broncos side would address the issues exposed previously but with only one training session under their belts the boys didn't have the time to adjust their style and the results speak for themselves with 6 tries coming down our right hand side.

In the end I believe the Broncos can address the issue and this period should do us the world of good in the grand scheme of things.

If either of those sides from last night are serious about winning the comp, then their goal line defense must improve.

Everytime both sides went to the opposing 20 in the first half, they scored.
Brisbane ran out of gas in the second half which blew the scoreline away.

The goal line defense from both teams was quite poor.
And I'm not trying to have a go at either side, that's just stating a fact.
