By sore losers, I mean those Dragons fans who were yelling at celebrating Raiders fans to "look at the ladder you f**kwits" or "f**k off merkins, you're still a sh*t team who just got lucky" etc... do I have to draw you a picture? The vast majority weren't like that, but there were plenty who were.
Sounds like they rattled your cage skeepey.

Your second half last week was amongst some of the best footy I've seen in a long while, I don't know how we kept you out.

our first half was absolutely dire though
We should have won that game, not the refs fault but that grounding rule is absolutely ridiculous. I feel for any fan who loses a semi/GF from that call. But anyways, plenty of signs to for the Raiders to look forward to going into 2010

We played the top 2 teams, neither of which played poorly and we SHOULD be 2/2 from them, as it stands we're 1/2 and pushed the other every inch of the way. If we play that sort of footy consistantly next year, we'll be a very difficult team to beat

"Neither of which played poorly"?

I'd argue that both us and Saints had a rubbish second half - too many errors.

Both played as well as they were allowed to play by the Raiders. The Raiders in both 2nd halfs pressured them into mistakes and grinded their way into winning positions. You might argue you played poorly but if they did it was due to the Raiders being all over them.

You'll obviously disagree because no team's fans like to think a side coming 13th can pressure them into mistakes, but thats exactly what happened.

So when you play a poor 1/2 it has nothing to do with the opposition, but when another club plays a poor 1/2 it's because of the raiders efforts ??

Which one is it ?

First trip down to Canberra and a terrific atmosphere. Be handy if you blokes wouldn't charge $9 for spirits though. Congrats to the Raiders. Easily the most physical and intense game I've witnessed all year. I thought our defence was superb in the first half and when Boyd scored just after half-time I thought we might run away with it. Not to be.

My only sour point was the ref's. They were both trigger-happy. The sin binnings were laughable. Young was called as the third man in? Why the hell was Campese binned? Why was'nt Miller binned? But I'm not taking anything away from the Raiders. Better team won the game.

Not really, just thought it was sad.

I do have to say though the majority of Dragons supporters were fantastic. While they were a bit quiet towards the end, they were ear-splitting for most of the match and really made the atmosphere what it was. The majority were also gracious in defeat, which is good to see.

The prices at Canberra Stadium are a joke. $5 for a bottle of water is extortion.

Agree. I don't think any of the sin binnings really helped anything. Still, I won't go as far as Mark Geyer did and say the referee is responsible for Weyman getting knocked out, what a ridiculous assertion.

To answer the questions (I've since watched a replay and heard what the referees said) Young was actually binned for multiple infringements. Whilst they kept the first penalty, which was for the obstruction, if they hadn't then Young would have been penalised for throwing the first punch. Given that this would have been the third penalty against him in 20 minutes, the referee binned him.

Campese was binned because he can't keep his mouth shut. Whilst I think Cummins' attitude to players is poor, Campese's attitude towards refs is worse. Cummins was talking to Alan Tongue, saying that Campese wasn't listening to him and he wasn't going to take it anymore, Campese asked "what were you saying to me?" I believe, and Cummins overreacted and binned him. Despite the overreaction, I'm sure it would have come sooner or later in the game anyway because Campese was constantly barking at the referees.

Josh Miller stayed on the field because, believe it or not, the referees and touch judges did not see either Miller or Poore throw a punch. While in reality there were plenty of punches thrown, apparently nobody saw anything. That said, I don't think it deserved a sin binning anyway, and I applaud Miller for standing up to that thug who was constantly putting on cheapshots on our younger players in backplay. He has form for it, I still remember him king-hitting Ryan Hinchliffe in back play a few years back and getting away with it, massive massive thug.

Great game though, all said and done. I just think we could have done it with 13 on 13 for 80 minutes.

Its a game by game situation, i judge each occasion on its merrits, surely you arent thick enough to suggest its either one or the other. Then again, maybe you are.

You're not telling us anything we don't already know. Food and drink in general at Canberra Stadium is severely overpriced and generally of poor quality. I think it was one of the top two issues raised with the club in a member survey a year or two back.

$4.60 for bottled water for f**k's sake.

Edit: Never mind, Skeepers already made the same point.

I had a bigger problem with the (lack of) quality from the Maccas at Goulburn. Is it notorious for poor service and even worse food quality?

Yeah, that's a real sh*thole and always busy. I usually hold off 'til Hungry Jacks.

But nothing beats a Canberra Stadium roast beef roll with a frozen sliver of gravy down the middle. A bargain for only $8.

Of course I have. I've no problem with the banter, I love it and generally engage in it myself. When a sauced up fully grown man is telling a kid no older than 14 that he should "f**kin look at the ladder merkin, who's the better team" then that goes a little bit beyond banter don't you think?

Again, it was a throwaway comment that people have read too much into. Dragons fans sure are a touchy bunch.

If you didn't wait until Sutton Forrest Maccas that's your problem.

If it's a throwaway comment, why say it? All it's going to do is create argument...

Of course. But as I said it was just a throwaway comment, didn't expect it to be forensically examined. The gist of my original post was how good the game was, and that's what I wanted to be discussing here.

Timmah couldn't help himself though.
