When the Raiders play to their potential, they're the best side in the NRL.
Rubbish. The Dragons, Bulldogs, Storm, Titans and Manly at their best would all beat Canberra at their best.

Incorrect.
The ladder suggests otherwise... Considering most of those teams mentioned have won close to 2 times the amount of games you have. When exactly will we see the best of the Raiders this year?

Ah well that's the problem isn't it? We haven't seen the best of the Raiders much this year. I guess you get that sort of inconsistency with young sides though.

I still maintain that at their absolute best there is no better team in the NRL.

I maintain that anyone that holds that viewpoint is delusional. No doubt when they're onsong, there are few better sides to watch in attack. However, they lack seriously in the defensive tenacity department, and that's generally what separates the consistent teams from the inconsistent teams.

The great thing about the Dragons (for their supporters anyway) is how they can play well below their potential and still win by 20. I wouldn't prefer anything over that sort of consistency. Being the best team in the NRL while on song is great and all but it won't win you a premiership/or even the majority of games. Hence why I see no point in mentioning it, its too debatable anyway. At the moment, I'd be happy to have my team win a game :p

You can only really make a prediction based on the evidence at hand, and on that basis Firey is closer to the truth. How many of these "certain games" have Canberra won comfortably at home this year? Two, I'd say. The Warriors and Broncos - not contenders by any means. On the other side Saints haven't been beaten by more than 6 points all year.

Against the Titans there probably hasn't been a more impressive first half put together by any team this year. We were absolutely pantsing them and took the foot off the pedal in the second half, but still won.

Also again the Storm, we were the much better team in that game as well.

Looking at the ladder has nothing to do with the initial point I made, I'm well aware that when the Raiders are off the boil they are very average (that's being kind).

I'll give you a cricket analogy to explain it. The Raiders are like a batter capable of getting 200 on their day no matter who the bowler is, but they are also capable of getting a series of ducks against a string of lower class bowlers. The Dragons will go and hit 60 or 70 every week and never get low scores and hence are the better team over the course of a season - but every now and then they are going to come up against that 200 score. Enter the Raiders this weekend.

The Dragons hit 200's as well - more frequently probably. I don't doubt that Canberra are a massive chance in this game - they look strong, TLL is a freak, the Saints struggle at that ground and are down a few key troops. But it won't be comfortable

The Raiders supporters are displaying the arrogance I'd expect of competition leaders.

It's as though they beat the Broncos by a fair margin and are suddenly world beaters.

Consistency is the earmark of success. Not potential.

Let's just remember who is running 13th.

This is totally different, as the Dragons come into this game in great form and having won 7 straight matches, while the Raiders are planning Mad Monday. I'd still be confident of Dragons 13+ even if its close for about 60 minutes.
You know last season the Raiders beat the Dragons 19-12 I think and I am sure they were 7 in a row up until then as well.
