Yes mate, of course.

Same with shutting down Slater on kick returns.

Shutting down Princes dummies.

Controlling Wings dummy half runs.

Falou under a high ball.

Hodges isolating his centre.

etc etc.

There is a way to combat all of these. Executing it is altogether more difficult.

If it were as simple as coming up with the plan, all of the above would be ineffective.

The toughest thing to deal with in regards to the Tigers is the fact they can go from absolutely amazing to absolutely shocking in the space of a minute.

You have to play them like they are amazing for 80 minutes because if you drop your guard and take tham lightly, they will samash you.

That is hard to prepare for.

We do well against sides like the Sharks and Dragons (and a lesser extent Storm) because they bring a tough consistent battle for almost 80 minutes. We can handle that.

What we struggle against is a side that can be ordinary then suddenly switch on with some individual brilliance.

Even with a 6 day lay-off, I think the Tigers will struggle, their intensity in defence was incredible on Monday and that would've emptied the tank somewhat.

If the Knights successfully attack the Tigers flanks they'll get points, Melbourne had 3 tries disallowed out wide from memory, just forward passing stopped the Storm winning IMO.

Tigers lift for Campbelltown, wouldn't write these guys off, even though the Knights are playing well atm.

Just the one disallowed try.

The Tigers concede most of their tries down the right flank where Collis and Ryan are defending.

I think it will be close. As i said before, the Knights are a good team although I haven't seen them demolish a side yet. If they win it will be 1-12.

Tigers wary of Knights' many threats

Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens believes his side could face a tougher defensive assignment against Newcastle this weekend than the one dished up by Melbourne on Monday night.

The Tigers produced their best tackling performance of the season in limiting the Storm to just one try at Leichhardt Oval, but Sheens claims the Knights' multi-pronged attack could be tougher to hold out at Campbelltown Stadium on Sunday.

The Knights have showcased an expansive style over the opening six rounds of the competition, with halfback Jarrod Mullen's return to fitness and form complemented by the work of five-eighth Ben Rogers and underrated hooker Isaac De Gois.

Then there's Test utility Kurt Gidley, who has shown an uncanny ability to switch between fullback, hooker, halfback and five-eighth throughout matches.

"We're on alert all across the field this week," Sheens said at Tigers training on Thursday.

"Some sides are easier to follow because they have key indicators - Melbourne being one with (fullback Billy) Slater.

"Gidley pops up at first receiver and as a runner all over the field, they've got good ball-players on both sides of the field and strong-running forwards and big centres.

"They're a well balanced side, that's why they're doing so well.

"We'll have to be on our game trying to read the point of attack."

While recovery had been a focus for the Tigers this week as they try to kick the Monday night hoodoo, Sheens said his side couldn't afford to be content with what they did against the Storm.

After Sunday's meeting with the Knights, the Tigers take on the in-form Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium in what shapes as an important fortnight before their round nine bye.

"A one-off game doesn't make a winter, we've got some work to do still," Sheens said.

"We're not kidding ourselves, we've had too many points put past us. A one-off is a one-off, we need to do that more consistently."

Sheens confirmed backrower Chris Heighington - who was surprisingly overlooked by NSW selectors when they named their preliminary 40-man squad on Tuesday - would not play against the Knights due to an ankle injury.

Backrower Daine Laurie was named on an extended bench as cover for Heighington, though Sheens said he would wait until game day to reveal his final squad.

"I'll probably keep that pretty close to my chest at this stage," he said.

"Daine's in the 18 but I don't think he'll start."

We are doomed to cop a touch-up now that you have tipped us Skeepey

I've tipped Newcastle three times this season already, against the Sharks, Sea Eagles and Warriors. In fact, my tipping record for the Knights was perfect until the bloody Dragons game.

depending on how tigers use their bench with heigno out could well be the difference. his defence will be sorely missed.

cant pick a winner cos either side can turn up and win 13+

Wests Tigers have lost Chris Heighington (ankle) for their clash with the Knights on Sunday. Daine Laurie will join the bench. Tim Sheens is yet to decide who to promote to his starting line-up. Newcastle coach Brian Smith is believed to be leaning towards giving Wes Naiqama a first run for the year should Aku Uate be ruled out with a hamstring injury. Scott Dureau (elbow) will not play.

Chris Heighington (ankle) was officially ruled out yesterday, with Bryce Gibbs expected to start, possibly up front, pushing Todd Payten up to second-row.
Knights winger Aku Uate (hamstring) is expected to play. Wes Naiqama is expected to survive the chop from the seven man bench.

Thankfully that's where Aku and Junior play.

only reason I have any confidence.

we always seem to lose this type of game.

I am expecting big things from Junior this game - if he fires he could make Collis his bitch and win it for us.

If the Tigers are to win it will be all down to Benji and Farah.

I think we can match their pack, and I am confident our backs can put some points over them - all of their outside backs have some frailties in defence, and McManus is the man to handle Tuiaki (except on the fly from 5 out!).

Benji always seems to carve us up though :fist:

Will be close, and not prepared to tip a winner.

Patto trained well all week.

He will be given until the last minute to play.

Ruling him out at the moment is premature.
