Bulldogs hooker Michael Ennis found not guilty of chicken wing tackle

April 29, 2009
Bulldogs hooker Michael Ennis has been found not guilty of a chicken wing tackle at the NRL judiciary and is free to play the Wests Tigers on Sunday.

Ennis was charged with grade one dangerous contact for his ninth minute tackle on Canberra's Josh Dugan last Sunday.

But Ennis successfully argued that his force on Dugan's arm was because the Raiders fullback was applying force to his throat in an attempt to fend off the tackle.

Ennis is now cleared to play the Tigers and face Robbie Farah - his main rival for the NSW No.9 jersey.

tigers will win by 30 now instead of 6

I dunno, the NRL seem to be backing him pretty good, they cleared him so he could play this game. Dont be surprised if the same thing as last week happens and farah has people offside 10 times but never gets a penalty.

unusual to see a bulldogs fan want to win the game at ANY cost, whether it be more than the cost of the salary cap, a player that shouldn't be there or heck, even 14 players, who cares hey.

The fans responsible for the salary cap for which we ended up winning nothing?

The fans responsible for the successful arguing at the judiciary of Ennis' tackle?

The fans responsible for the 14 players?

Give yourself a triple goose.

Well having seen your posts on ennis it is pretty clear you approve of his "he had his hand on my throat" call despite the fact that after the game he stated he was "just trying to get the player on his back", so no your not responbsible for what happens but you will argue that it is right when the clear majority of normal thinking people think it isn't. He 'chicken winged', so he should have been suspended, just as Gallen should have. This is the problem, the judiciary will continue to be bias while it appeases people like yourself, no system can work unless it applies equally to everyone. Same with the 14th man, Bulldogs broke the rules so they pay the penalty = simple. Yet many of their fans whinge and whine about how they deserve the points even though they cheated according to the rules. So why dont you "give yourself a triple goose".

He removed Dugan's hand from his throat. Just watched it again then, Dugan should have been cited tbh, he had his hand up in his throat. Self-defence.

Appeases people like myself? WTF? I'm afraid the judiciary blokes don't consult the LU or RLeague or club forums when considering their decisions. Sure, as fans we are beneficiaries but how you arrive at "appeasing" is a joke

The Bulldogs never denied they broke the rules, they were simply arguing the severity of the penalty - teams in previous situations have managed . The appeal was eventually turned down, and life goes on.

Ennis is a pussy, if dugan had of actually been hurting his throat he would have been on the ground winking at Kimmorley quicker than you could say 'cheating grub', and also it would make more sense had he claimed that straight away instead of saying he was trying to put him on the ground.

What I mean by appease is that a number of people are now saying 'yipee we get to see Farah play Ennis' instead of questioning the decision. And i stress that this isn't everyone, but it would be the majority, and no system of rules can work if decisions are based on what the most beneficial outcome to the body making them as opposed to what is correct. From your reactions you either dont care what is correct or are so one-eyed that you can't see that was an illegal tackle.

 A player being a pussy or not enters into the debate now? Now you're just making stupid assumptions to support an argument. lol.

To suggest I am one-eyed as if you aren't is absolutely ludicrous - this argument has no objectivity, whether you like it or not.

The way I saw the tackle is how it was defended at the judiciary. Dugan was putting Ennis in danger by having his hand at his neck. Yeah Ennis used force but he wouldn't have been required to, had Dugan's hand not been where it was.

Hooray for bias! :D

How it is relevant to the debate is that if he was actually getting hurt or thought he was in danger he would have milked it for all it was worth. And its no assumption, we all saw the winking incident.

Anyhow, I tire of this argument, lets agree to disagree. As much as i think Ennis should have been suspended i am looking forward to him and Farah clashing. Hopefully Farah owns him.

Good one Timmah!

You toss-pot.

Both ennis and Ryan are dirty players. Scum if you will

Hello my names is Andrew Ryan and I punch a player whilst he is defenseless on the ground.

Again, how is an assumption about an alternative scenario relevant? :? I don't think you get my point.
