Certainly gonna miss him once he hangs up his representitive boots. Is this his last year or will he continue after the Quad Nations?

Every year its the same result, i dont know why people think its going to be any different. Next year will be the same result.

Maybe its about time NZRL grew some nuts and say we want our players to get the week off before the match and we want a match at home.

This match is perfectly set up every year for the Aussies. But then again i guess NZRL dont care that we take a pasting every year just to get $400,000 in the bank.

Well done Aussie, made the least mistakes and deserved the win.

Please never let that English ref come back again, the ruck was pathetic and ruin the match.

The Anzac Test (which has nothing to do with Anzac Day) has always been and will always be a cash grab. It's a very successful cash grab so from that point of view keep it going. The result really means jack.

Looking forward to the Quad Nations. Should be an exciting tournament to watch.

Yeah mate, you're right- obviously a dominant performance from Benji tonight

Mixed back in the first half. Quiet in the second

You are a twat

You were talking about Stewart.

Obviously someone who is a great judge of the game. Benji? Many a twat in here and you would be the leader of the pack.

Maybe you should get on a bit more of your namesake.

Dammit I wish Kiwis fired up more, we're justified in having a whinge here Silverwood deadset gave us an absolute mauling in the second half. Just killed us. And is anyone else as perplexed as me about the Thurston try? That was a weird game...not quite your typical ANZAC test. The Kiwis had the better of territory and possession for most of the game and controlled the ball better. They just bombed several opportunities, it really could've been very different otherwise. On the negative side of things, our defence was pathetic. Totally pathetic.

His second?

No try for mine- Stewart lost control of the ball, propelling it into Hohaia's head...it went backwards as a consequence for Thurston to pick up and score. Fairly straight forward NO TRY I would have thought

The second Thurston try that came after a Stewart lost ball hit Hohaia? Yup, no try, but wasn't surprised to see it given the green light.

Our defence and attack both lacked any cohesion, almost as if they were a team thrown together with less than a week to prepare, injuries and suspensions disrupting preperation as well as forcing constant reshuffling of positions.

I dunno.....despite that lack of cohesion we easily could've scored many more tries than we did....just a few last passes went astray and Benji took one or two wrong options. Very frustrating....in terms of creating opportunities to win it was one of our better ANZAC Day performances, but in terms of defensive heart I thought it was close to our worst. Yes, I'm talking about the second Thurston try which appeared to me to be a garden variety "knock on in to the defender", but which got awarded after two looks by the video refs and with no qualms from the commentators.

Kiwis had plenty of opportunities, particularly in the first half.

Back to normal transmission then.

Players who have been invisible:

Manu

and Eastwood appears to have eaten too many pies.

FFS what did you expect, he hasnt played this year. Packer should have been picked.

Manu played well in the few minutes he got (he was only invisible because he wasn't on the field!) I suspect Blake may have been talking about Manu Vatuvei, which I think is harsh

Australia and NZ both could have scored more trys,

i thought the NZ attack whilst only scoring 2 trys, wasn't that bad... the Oz defence held firm for most of the part
what did let NZ down was the lapses in concentration which led to poor sets, drop balls and missed tackles.... at the most important times

Fitness is most likely an issue with the big Kiwi boppers as well

yeah so much for Rugby League heartland, cant sell out this game. And they bag Sydney crowds. Disappointing crowd, shouldve been around 40,000 or more.

I agree, it was a dissapointing turn out but I'm not surprised by the figure. For the first time the figure wasn't inflated by the Broncos season members who are generally offered a free ticket to the game as apart of the package. Also I believe the conditions benefitted the past crowd figures.

When the ARL brought the ANZAC Test match up to Suncorp in 2005 the Queensland market was ripe for the picking. A Queensland venue hadn't seen a Test match in a number of years so it came as no surprise when 40 000+ attended the Test match in April of 05.

However with that said I'd like to draw an interesting fact to the NSWs supporters out there.

Last years Centenary Test match only drew 34 571 fans. The opener of the World Cup drew even less. While the last Kangaroo's game hosted in NSWs only drew 15 855 supporters. Even Townsville drew a higher attendance!

Personally I've always found this fixture to be incredibly redundant. Yes I love Test footy but over the past 11 or so years this game has produced far too many one sided contests. It's time for a change.

On the game, I felt the better team won but the scoreline didn't reflect the climate of tonights game. I felt the Kiwi's dominated the ruck better than the Aussies who were a little soft at times. However Australia's backline was far too talented and when you have the halves of Lockyer and Thurston controlling matters it makes life a hell of a lot easier. I'd like to give big Justin Hodges a wrap, I thought he was outstanding. Aside from him, I thought Luke Bailey was the only forward capable of giving it to the Kiwi's.

I've never been a fan of player bagging but...(spoken like a true player bagger!) I thought Cameron Smith was cod ordinary. If Issac had of been available last night I believe he would've schooled him in dummy half running which Smith appears to be running away, instead relying on his ineffective long passing game to Lockyer to save his ass. I hope for his and Australia's sake he lifts his game otherwise I believe Farah should be rewarded with an oppurtunity.

With that said, the world is starting to feel right again...it'll just take a few more years...

Stewart played the lock role nicely and Gallen did what he has been doing with the Sharks by getting lots of touches. All in good performance by the Roos.

I think Harrigan was trying to set the record for the most half ar$ed performance of all time in a video refs box. The Hodges second try, he didn't even have a look at aside from the custom full speed replay. He probably scored, but the put down still looked a bit dodge to me, but how can anyone know, no one even got to have a serious look at it! The Thurston try, I thought it still went forward from Stewart into Fa'alogo's shoulder which sent it backwards. And when all evidence was pointing to Darius Boyd's boot flicking up a divot on the sideline, he of course ruled benefit of the doubt try which was a massively incorrect ruling when Perrett couldn't possibly have caused the divot being a good 3/4s metre out of bounds by the time the divot comes up.

It's always a bath to the Aussies. Doesn't matter who the opponents are, whether it be New Zealand or Great Britain, you come to Australia for a mid season test you get a hiding. If it's at North Harbour stadium like it was in the late 90s a couple of times, its a different story.

I don't see any point in this test, it just allows the death-riders of test football to round up the troops and give it to test football. End of year tests and Four Nations are all we need.

I can't believe how much gould was whinging about the shepard call. It looked a clear shepard to me with the attacker running behind a runner.

Yes the ref ended it as a contest by giving Aust 2 of the softest penalties early in the second half.
I'm not at all surprised with the result though. At the very best it is an NRL A team v an NRL B/C team. The aussies should win every game and comfortably. 38-10 is roughly a par score i would say

Two of the Aussie tries were ridiculous- Thurston's 2nd and Boyd's. The referees engineered the blowout. 26-10 was about fitting.
