Fair enough, as the winner you have every right to be happy with the performance, but you can't begrudge the rest of us for being bored sh*tless.

They aren't there to entertain fans of other clubs, they're there to win games and progress to the next round of the finals. Manly were laying all over us trying to slow down the play the ball, it's pretty hard to play expansive football when they're allowed to do that. Almost every time we got within range they'd give away a penalty, if they displayed more discipline you wouldn't have anything to whinge about.

Two greater attacking teams could only muster up 19 and 15 compared to our 28. Defensively Manly were actually pretty solid as well.

The formula works, and we as a club are loving it right now. I'd rather be "boring" and win games, than flashy and lose them.

Adam, no one is forcing you to watch.

Of course you're allowed to be bored. But imo there's more to it. I see a thread full of cranky opposition supporters, dripping with angst. This so-called 'match thread' had very little to do talking about the match itself. You work yourselves up and almost entirely bypass the latter stages as Saints ran in tries and put Manly to the sword. Hell, most of you were so uptight that you didn't even comment on the Gasnier try, such was the level of bitching.

But don't get me wrong. This is great reading.

As a Saints supporter, I like it that opposition supporters are bitching and moaning about us. I like it even more that so many opposition supporters hate Kogarah. Good times.

You really are a first-rate merkin arent you?

F*ck off Raiders_premiers....& quit the whining.
You get your (undeserved) home semi-final this friday night. Hopefully now you'll quit your incessant meaningless dribble.

Interesting thread this one.
If people are bored, then too bad I guess.

That boring play has got us to within 80 minutes of the Grand Final.
I, like most Dragons fans, couldn't care less if we win our next game by 2-0 to get to the Grand Final.
I'm sure all of you supporters of other teams would be the same if it was your side.

Gotta love reading through this thread and seeing the usual "forward pass ohmigod" and "another penalty goal, ffs" sh*t that gets brought up.

Newsflash people, if you aren't enjoying it, you have a remote control no more than a few meters away at most.
I suppose it would have been a better game had they thrown the ball around erratically and allowed Manly to get to within 4 points of them and then scored to win by 10 in the last minute?
bullsh*t, if they had done that, we'd be reading about how they failed to keep a wounded opposition scoreless.

Dragons defence is sensational and will win them the comp this year. Do I find there play boring? Yes. But if I was a Dragons fan I would not give a crap as long as they kept winning.

Yep, pretty much sums it up. I went to the Raiders Panthers game on Sunday night and it was a very entertaining match compared to the next day at Kogarah.

The problem is that style of footy is working for the Dragons but I can see how a grand final played like that isn't exactly going to be the best way to showcase the game to new and casual fans.

An honest reply Garts. Nice to read.

FTR, when Manly were getting repeat sets at the line, the longer it went on, the more the crowd got into it. For a while, the crowd was cheering almost every tackle. For a Saints supporter, it was tremendous to watch. Goal line defence and locking them out is the stuff that wins games.

Btw, I know when I was at Brookvale in 2008 for the Manly v Saints final, it was pretty hostile there at times. All part of the fun. The tables are simply reversed this time around. That's the great thing about football, you get to come back and have another shot. Good luck next year. :thumn

Reason why the other games look entertaining its the lack of good defence , and a grand final with 2 teams with poor defences will do more damage to the game.

any team can attack, but not all teams can defend

The nrl would not want a score line of 36-34

The best thing for nrl would be 2 teams what are good in defence and can score points

Couldnt agree more, it was a boring bludger of a game to watch but the Dragons did what they needed to do. The Panthers/Raiders on Sat was entertaining but I would be much happier if the Panthers had won 2 -0 in the most boring game this century.

Was that grubber kick to Horbag Sowies first grubber for the 2010 season? Usually puts them up or chips over the top.

It reminds me of Manlys defence back in 1996 and 2008. When someone was attacking our line I knew we could withstand it. When we were attacking your line yesterday we didnt even look that threatening due to your defence. All things considered I thought we did ok for 60 minutes yesterday. Against other sides we would have at least got a couple of tries. As a neutral fan I prefer to watch the attack that Benji, Carney etc can deliver. But a GF is won with great defence first and foremost. If I was a Dragons fan I would be very happy as you have that down.

If it was the Titans/Raiders/Roosters/Tigers they would have put 50 on that band aid side, no question. 28 points is terrible. Can't see many points being scored by the Dragons at all.

People will just follow the Raiders game plan of penetrate, penetrate, penetrate and the defence will crack. If Manly had half a decent side out there they would have put 2-3 tries on in that first half

There are some pure utter jealous hating f#ckwits in this thread! There was not a single decent post in like 80% of the pages. Great performance from the Dragons! They did everything they needed to get the win, which is what matters. They want to win the comp not just entertain f**kwit opposition supporters by playing Toyota Cup style rubbish.
