Bowen has just come back from 2 knee reconstructions, and hasn't had a pre-season under his belt since about 2007, he's going to take a little while to get back near his best.

His kicking game kept us in the contest last night.

No disrespect to Penrith, but I thought the better team lost last night. Penrith did well to hang on in defence for numerous sets though in the second half. Cows probably should have taken a point in the middle of those 4 consecutive sets, at least it was something to come away with, and would have had them up by 7.

The Cows probably had slightly the better of the first half, but the Panthers were all over them in the last 20. To be the better side after losing the second half 14-0 (and very fortunate it wasn't 20-0) you'd have to have been running riot in the first, and that clearly wasn't the case. Kicking field goals 25 minutes from time when leading by 6 or 12 tends to lift the opposition, as they realise you've given up on scoring tries.

The Cows, and particularly their captain, have a serious problem with mouthing off at the refs. Not surprisingly, the refs take a dim view of this. Maybe its time JT got a week off for it.
