Maybe Lewis shouldn't of been offside?

Lucky to have 13 men at one point and it seemed like the refs gave Penrith quite a kick for some fairly innocuous calls that they were far more guilty of.

McKendry should have been sent off for a deliberate trip. The ref had no option but a send off. Combine that with the ridiculous dissent penalty that led to a try and then yet another knock on being rewarded with a penalty that got the Panthers their last 2 points, and the refs have single-handedly got them home here.

That video ref call was about the only correct call all night. Lewis was in front of the kicker and then within 10 when Coote touched it. Correct call.

Pfft, that Lewis no try was a farkin joke, if he was in front of the kicker it was miniscule, if he was inside the 10 it was also miniscule, what a joke.

He was easily inside the ten, offside it was visibly evident (although there wasn't much in it).

Minuscule or not, he was offside. If it was the other way and it was awarded, you would have been furious because it was a clear offside.

The biggest joke was McKendry staying on the field for a deliberate trip.

 Skeepe. No idea. We won that fair and square. Calls went both ways.

We didn't play too well but got it done in the end and that's all I care about at this stage. We just needed to end the string of losses.

Next week at Canberra will be a good game IMO. Both big strong forward packs, and halves/backs that can get it right some weeks, and look horrible the next. We'll definitely need 2 props on the bench!

Who comes in for McKendry? He will do some time, and should have been sent from the field tonight.

Hopefully Tim Grant will be back, but I think more likely the week after. Is listed as "Round 23?" on the Panthers website.

I'm not sure if Puletua is injured (not listed on the website), but if not he is a possibility.

Plum is also a possibility if he comes back from injury, he filled in at prop for us last week, although was pretty crap to be honest.

Then we also have Daine Laurie as an option, who was OK against the Warriors. As well as Aaron Sweeney, who has apparently been carving up in the NSW Cup and played for NSW Residents.

So yeah, I think we'll be OK for props. Civoniceva, Bell, then 2 of McKendry, Grant, Puletua, Plum, Laurie and Sweeney.

Canberra definitely have a bloody good forward pack though! Looking forward to the game! :D

That's three times now you've given your view on this incident. Most here would have known where you stand after the first time.

Consensus on the Panthers forum is that he might get a week, and Thurston might be offered a contract with the Azzurri.

don't talk utter sh*t. Thurston was tripped fair and square.

If that was Luke Odonnell who tripped a player he would have been sent from the field, I guarantee it. You should be thankful you weren't down to 12 for the rest of that game or at the least he should have got 10 in the bin.

We are rubbish, fair and square, but that penalty against JT for dissent, christ knows how the pocket ref can tell what the hell JT was saying, he sounded like a tranny in a mid week interview on FOX and even worse on game night. If it was for throwing his arms in the air over the lack of an advantage or whatever from the knock on, that'll do me. I didn't get to see the replay of the incident.

I tend to agree with all that. Thought more should have been made of the McKendry trip, it was quite clear he had every intention of tripping Thurston. The way he thrust his leg forward, there was nothing else he could possibly have been wanting to do.

No disrespect to Penrith, but I thought the better team lost last night. Penrith did well to hang on in defence for numerous sets though in the second half. Cows probably should have taken a point in the middle of those 4 consecutive sets, at least it was something to come away with, and would have had them up by 7.

Cowboys fans might often say 'the better team lost' when they lose games. They had big leads v Tigers and Sharks but still lost and tonight they were on top but still we found a way to win. Whatever their excuses, the fact is they've only won 5 games all season and with 8 origin players or so that's hard to justify.

Where has a Cowboys fan said the better team lost after any of those games?

Frog you idiot :lol::lol: Thurston copped a trip, he's not an Italian diver.

Bowen, face palm dude, seriously. In the last few weeks the Cowboys have had good chances in the last 10 minutes to beat both the Tigers and Penrith. Both times, Bowen has taken dumb, dumb, dumb options. In the Tigers game he carried on behind a blatant shepherd on the 3rd tackle when they were setting up for a drop goal to take the lead back with not long to go, in this game, when they were setting up for a field, he got rushed, but the outside defence was near non existent and instead of passing it for what surely would have been a try, he tries to run it for the glory. Seriously, Bowen is a massive underachiever up there. Him and Aaron Payne seem to get a lot of wraps, but they're both playing dodgy football. The Cowboys go 50 timers better when Watts is at dummy half.

I think a fair few of the Cowboys players are already thinking about their end of season trip. Unless the likes of Payne, Bowen and Carl Webb forget their ego at customs and start playing to their potential again, maybe it'd be good for them if they stayed on overseas.

Pantherz9103 - thommo is a Dragons fan.

Iafeta - Bowen is a mixed bag isn't he? Will set up about 2-3 tries but will blow some big moments too. As for Payne, he was good for them from about 2005-2009 but he's been playing injured this season and it's shown.
