Congrats Manly ... we weren't up to it tonight and u guys were the better side deserving of the win.

I don't get all the Cooper bashing though?? Who cares if he didn't play City vs Country?? He's an injury prone player who is in the end phase of his career, has played at the top rep levels and is showing that his priorities now lie with St George... don't see the big deal?? As a dragons supporter I commend it..

It's interesting to go back and read some of the posts before the game. The general consensus seemed to be.... the Dragons will win because; the usual.....Sowie, BMoz, Coops, their lethal left side attack etc etc.... Mostly, though.... it was the Dragons greater "depth". Summed up by the following opinions...

I'm pretty confident in this one, we have far stronger depth than Manly IMO, our structure allows us to cover missing players pretty easily. Manly's habit of fading in games will be compounded by players backing up. FIREY DRAGON

No excuses for the Dragons.....that team is good enough. If the dragons win and Manly feel they have legitimate excuses, good luck to them, it's their business. It won't worry the Dragons. RODENT

However now with the game run and won, most Dragons fans only want to bitch and moan about the players they had missing.

You can't have it both ways ;-)

Is it worth pointing out none of us were out there on the field tonight?

Do any of us deserve bragging rights when our team wins? Sports fanaticism has always been all about providing justification for deadsh*ts to vicariously behave like wankers.

Footy's as much about the teams you hate as the ones you love. I don't even follow an EPL team - I just watch whenever Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal play because I want to see them lose.

Who decides what the rules are for watching other people play sport and then gobbing off about it?

your sig is a joke...eels are not defending premiers of 09.

My brother in law who hates Manly with a passion thinks it was a try but I will be interested to see it again. Either way no surprise there might have been some dodgy decisions.

It's not an excuse but Saints lost their biggest go-forward machine and one of their rep wingers before kickoff - when Manly ended up 1-17 it was always going to be tough.

Manly were clearly the better side but had the Dragons been full strength the story would have almost certainly been different.

As a Saints fan it pains me to say well done Manly, you were too good for us tonight. Given you had 8 players backing up you should be more than confident of repeating the dose at Kogarah in round 23.
On reflection I'm quietly confident we can reverse tonight's result at our home ground. Whilst I'm very disappointed at the way we played, I don't think there was that much in it in the end.
No excuses from me, the better team on the night won. Enjoy the victory. I didn't see anything last night that has me at all worried regarding the future. If you bring your 'A' game and get towelled, that's a different story.
We were well off the pace last night and we didn't have much luck. All in all, if we were playing Manly at Kogarah next week, I'd say we'd be specials.

He is being serious, he has mentioned it in another thread.

More importantly, I just watched the Morris no try again....frame by frame.
That was a try.
His hands were on the ball, as the point of the ball touched the ground, well inside the dead ball line.

Pause it and go frame by frame and you'll see it's a try.

I don't like either team but in my opinion it was a no try. Granted that if slowed down frame by frame the point of the ball was grounded just inside the line with the rest of the ball on the line.

Under that logic though, if it was to happen on the try line it would be a no try because according to the theory the play ends at the first point of grounding (before the try line or before dead ball line). See what i mean?

I do agree that the ref should have checked though but i would have felt hard done by if it was given a try and i was the opposition.

that's a pretty poor excuse mate. It's very very rare fora team to ever field there full 17. It's impossible to say 'we'll be right when so and so cone back' because who is to say te week before they are due back you won't lose 3 other players to injury? For all you know this could be saints most full strength team for the rest of the year!

Teams have a squad for a reason. Injuries will always play a huge part in the premiership.

Look at the tigers for example, won 4 of 5 with 4 or 5 of the full 17 on the sidlines, I was thinking icant wait until we get payten, Galloway, tuiaki etc back. Then moltzen does his knee the week before payten and Galloway come back. You just don't know mate, you can only count on the 17 that go out every week turning up, no matter who they are.

Not making excuses, if you look at my earlier posts I stated that Manly were clearly the better team and deserved to win.

The blokes I've made reference to (the 6 or 7) are all back within the next week 2-3 weeks.
I get what you are saying, but a team would have to be damn unlucky to keep losing 6 or 7 players each week.

No, the ball was upright at the time with the point touching the grass, and then it rolled over on to it's side.

It's done and dusted with now, I believe it was a try, and going frame by frame showed it was.

Scoreboard shows 24-6 this morning, so that's what matters.

Definitely cant be an excuse, we have been missing our biggest go forward machine for the majority of the season, and a rep winger for all of it. Haven't used it as an excuse.

Dragons fans need to suck it up, Morris didn't score, Soward threw it forward. The better team won, end of.

The thing is, if the one team play's so well, it doesn't allow the other to play their "A" game. Manly's forwards dominated, so the Dragon's were not allowed to play their "A" game.

Not to mention our best player is out for the year as well.

That may be true, but Manly also have plenty of improvement left in them. We looked great, we were committed and defended really well, but our attack can definately step up as the young combinations get more game time together. Don't forget we have a brand new halves partnership with a 19 and 21 year old, and one of those was off injured for the second 40 minutes of the match. The real question is wil you be "specials" if you play Manly at the SFS or Homebush come September or even October.

Manly deserved their win, much better side last night.

How anyone can consider Soward's pass as forward is beyond me.

Easy Johnsy, the ignorant out there go by where it was caught relative to where it was passed. It's flogging a dead horse :BDH: ......if only more people studied physics in high school.....
