Whilst Im not devastated, Neil Henry has been away all week and we were using a lot of younger guys, would have liked to have seen a more competitive score line considering it was quagmire in Mackay tonight.

From my count you had 7-10 of your top team getting a run while the Tigers had 2, 3 at most.

Again, its a trial, and in the wet ike you said, but I reckon Henry would be miffed.

Again, its a trial, and in the wet ike you said, but I reckon Henry would be miffed.

Side was:

1. Shannon Gallant
2. Obe Geia
3. Will Tupou
4. Donald Malone
5. John Williams
6. Ryan Stig
7. Ray Thompson
8. Leeson Ah Mau
9. Anthony Watts
10. Antonio Kaufusi
11. Mitchell Achurch
12. James Tamou
13. Dane Hogan

14. Michael Bani
15. Moses Pangai
16. Clint Amos
17. Issac Ah Mau
18. Manase Manuokofoa
19. Davis Uhi
20. Dylan Smith
21. Justin Hunt
22. Todd Seymour
23. Tyson Martin

Only 4 of the starting lineup (Williams, Watts,Kaufusi and Tamou) could be considered "regular" members of first grade side last year. With Watts being a benchie, Tamou being a rookie and Kaufusi being sh*t.

But really its only a trial, the result is completely meaningless.

For the record, the Brisbane Donkeys are taking on Storm in Rockhampton Central Qld tonight (sat) so I guess from that you can work out who the donkeys put on the paddock in their trial last night (friday night)

Cheers

Tigers v Cowboys
Wests Tigers overcame a boggy surface and a slow start to open their NRL pre-season campaign with a 28-4 victory over North Queensland in Mackay on Friday night.
In a match played on a Tiger Park quagmire, the Tigers ran in five tries to one with Englishman Mark Flanagan grabbing a double in his first run with the club.
The match also the first in the black and gold for rugby league bad boy Arana Taumata, while half-back Blake Lazarus was impressive in his first game in a year after missing last season with a knee reconstruction.
"It was a very good effort in the heavy conditions and the pleasing thing is there are no major injuries," Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell said.
"It was a terrible night for rugby league. The game was played in thick mud.
"(Chris) Corby did well at dummy half in the second half while Arana Taumata added plenty of spark. (Junior) Moors and Flanagan were also very good."

WESTS TIGERS BEAT COWBOYS 28-4 IN TRIAL
By Wayne Cousins

Friday, 12 February 2010
Wests Tigers recorded a strong 28-4 victory over the North Queensland Cowboys in Mackay tonight in their first NRL trial match for 2010.
In a match played on a quagmire of a field at Tiger Park, Walkerston, the Cowboys enjoyed the majority of possession in the opening 20 minutes but could not break through the defence.
Both sides remained scoreless at the end of the first quarter. The Cowboys scored in the 39th minute through a try to Manase Manuokafoa. Former Wests Tigers full-back Shannon Gallant lined up for the Cowboys.
Wests Tigers opened their account in the 43rd minute when full-back Jake Mullaney scored his first try in the top grade after good lead up work by prop Junior Moors. Mullaney converted the try for a 6-4 lead.
Four minutes later, a change of angle in a strong run saw Moors score. Mullaney converted for a 12-4 lead.
Two minutes later, some fine lead up work by hooker Chris Corby saw Englishman Mark Flanagan score his first try for Wests Tigers. Mullaney converted the try for an 18-4 lead.
It became 22-4 when Flanagan scored his second try from a kick by half-back Blake Lazarus, playing his first game in a year after missing last season with a knee reconstruction.
Wests Tigers finished their tryscoring spree in the 78th minute when a kick through by the Cowboys was regathered by winger Rhys Pritchard, who made a great run back before linking up with Josh Davis who raced 20 metres to score under the posts. Mullaney converted the try for a 28-4 victory.
Prop Bryce Gibbs was named man-of-the-match.
“It was a very good effort in the heavy conditions and the pleasing thing is there are no major injuries,’’ said Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager Warren McDonnell.
“It was a terrible night for rugby league. The game was played in thick mud.
“It was a forwards game. There was plenty of drop ball.
“Gibbs, centres Geoff Daniela and Jake Clarke and hooker Daniel Fitzhenry did well in the first half.
"Corby did well at dummy half in the second half while Arana Taumata added plenty of spark. Moors and Flanagan were also very good."
Wests Tigers 28 (Mark Flanagan 2, Jake Mullaney, Junior Moors, Josh Davis tries; Mullaney 4 goals) d Nth Qld Cowboys 4 (Manase Manuokafoa) at Tiger Park, Mackay.

Raiders Trial Match Change of Venue

Friday, 12 February 2010
The venue for the Canberra Raiders trial match against Western Suburb Magpies, Saturday 6pm, has been changed from West Belconnen Oval to Rugby League Park Braddon.
The Raiders apologise for the late notice, however a burst water pipe at West Belconnen Oval left the ground unsafe to play on.
Accordingly, the trial match will kick-off at 6pm at Rugby League Park, Braddon and be played over 3 twenty-five minute thirds. Entry into the game will be free.

Raiders 20 (Drury Low 2, Mick Picker, Sam Williams, Mitch Kennedy tries) def. Wests Magpies 12

Game was played in pouring rain at Northbourne Oval after a late venue change due to a burst water main flooded the field at the original venue. No conversions were taken.

It would have to be pretty disappointing that an NRL squad let in two tries from a local ACTRL squad. Surely?

Brisbane Broncos 24.......Defeated.......Melbourne Storm 12

Wow that's a disastrous result for Melbourne. They had about 9 first graders and lots of promising youngsters in there against a no name Broncos team.

Bellamy will be spitting chips!!
