he wont be there game 2, Gidley will if not injured, my understanding seems quite ok in this regard.

He was utter tripe, good club player, out of his league in SOO.

So because Gidley will be back from injury means Young was woeful?

Tell me what Young did that was so poor?
His defence in that first 25 minutes when QLD were hammering us was unbelievable.
I didn't see Young let Matt Scott trample him, like Scott did to Ennis to set up QLD's last try.
Did you want him to be a saviour with the ball, when QLD had it all?

Seriously, some people need to watch the game a little closer.

for skeepe

The ref can rule play on, but if a touch judge comes running the field, the ref will blow the play up.

And listen to the report and take action who the touch judge say the penalty should go against

I am pretty sure you don’t even believe that Gaba.

It went 2 metres backwards. It is up there with the worst decisions I have ever seen.

As for his passing style, it doesn’t matter if he passed it soccer throw-in style, the fact is it went backwards and play should have continued.

I'll preface what I'm about to say with I was pleased when I heard Young would be starting as it was he who I was wanting to start from the beginning.

But seriously - Young's defence in that first 25 minute spell was below FG standard, let alone Origin standard. Scott & Petero seemingly targetted him every run and as a result, got a quick ptb every time putting our defence under enormous pressure. I'll admit he was involved - but was incredibly ineffective. In addition to that, his service was so ordinary when we had the ball that Ennis looked like Benny Elias when he came on.

I was expecting him to really go out and perform like a world-beater, but he was so out of his depth last night. His defence lacked any venom or aggression and his service was as one-dimensional as it comes - slow, loping passes from dummy-half, no engaging the markers, nada. There has to be better options and the answer is a specialist hooker playing 80 minutes with a utility on the bench. I don't see Young being good enough to play another game, which is disappointing as I was expecting big things, but that's just me

How many times did either of the halves get a kick down there to pin QLD close to their line?

Soward's short kicking game was pretty piss poor too.

it was a stupid play by ennis and then he compounded it by letting scott run over him to set up the winning try.

soward would have put it inside the 10 or over the deadball line and allowed nsw to set their defensive line.

it's sickening how nsw managed to hold on all game and get the lead then a bonehead play allowed qld to get the win.

how was he ineffective? qld only put 6 points on the board with all the possession in the first 20 mins. the onlsaught ended when mannah and merrin came on the field and started making some metres up the middle. if ennis started who knows what the score would have been after 20 mins.

also, it's not young's fault they made him dummy half, he barely gives average service for the saints but his tackling is a godsend for the team.

Well when I say 2nd gear they did only take the 4speed camry out last night (Nielsen, Parker, Lillyman were safety 1st containment selections), so they werent doing it easy. Next game we'll drive the 6 speed M5

Drive it right into a blue brick wall ;-)

As I said, his defence lacked venom or aggression. He (& Beau Scott) racked up the tackle count but they weren't dominant tackles. Having watched the opening exchanges again, I reiterate that Matt Scott & Petero sought Young out in the line and targetted him and he couldn't put a good shot on or dominate in the tackle. Both made good yards after initial contact on every run. I'll admit Young wasn't alone in being soft in his defence but he stood out to me.

Well that is completely untrue.

I can only imagine what your response would have been had Soward or any other dragons player threw it.
