I also think Elliot relies on VERY simple game plans that will work against the weaker sides but not against the real champion sides. However, these plans are easily worked out within a year and then he just blames his "cattle"

Knight fans should be disappointed that we got closer than 60. Spineless pathetic performance that I wouldn't accept from a schoolboy side. Its only the first round by that's the type of footy that wins you the spoon. Can't believe I sat in 35 degree heat to watch that rubbish.

It was just sloppy. Penrith and Sharks were equally bad but in completely different areas.

Penrith had no discipline and no effort, and it showed. The most telling part is how many times they got penalised for offside kickoffs. Was it 2 or 3? Learn your lesson ffs.

Sharks on the other hand seemed to completely lose track of basic skills after the 20 minute mark. They seemed to try hard but were completely inept.

I find it hard to believe we could have looked any better in the skills department. We completed like 4 sets in the second half didn't we? It was woeful whatever it was. Theres no doubt we didn't give a sh*t either though. At least Sharks fans have that.

Quite simply the most inept, souless, skillless and structurless performance I've ever seen from a so called first grade side.

You might be able to fix one of those things in a week but the other two, well lets just say it's going to be a very long season.

On the plus side it perhaps represents the beginning of the end for Matt Elliott.

Damn, I feel for yo. I remember exactly the same sh*t under Elliott - except we did play with a lot of heart

When is he signed up until? Don't tell me he received another contract extension

Elliott has no contract for next year, although I wouldn't be surprised if Leary was offering an extension when we led 2 nil. Worst performance I have seen since the 2nd half when the Cowboys ran down a 26 nil deficit. Just had nothing.

The Sharks winger and fullback crashed into each other contesting a bomb, allowing Ferguson to own them for about the 16th time. That sort of thing was standard.

Issac Luke can actually play though, and Sandow has a little more to his game than Walsh. As much as I dislike Sandow, he does try things with the ball.
Walsh kicks, that's pretty much it.

Very good performance by the Knights today I thought, especially considering they lost 2 key players during the match. Mullen played one of his best games in 2-3 years, if he can string some performances like that together, he's definitely in with a shot at a Blues jersey.

Penrith have some serious problems though, they were woeful.

Big Civ must be embarrassed leading around such an inept team.

So do I. He only ever seems to rely on his kicks to score points. Which might work well with a decent completion rate.... but when the team never making it to the kick we need a half with something else up his sleeve.

IMO Gordon to fullback. Coote to half. Coote couldn't offer any less then Walsh at half, but Gordon sure as hell would boost us at fullback.

Fortunately it would seem, I did not see this game.

But I'm not at all surprised to read the reports of this match particularly the apparent ineptness of Penrith. All through last season they were the most aggravating side to watch and were clear pretenders in finals football. The only remarkable thing about them was they were able to continue their charade for so long. Fortunately it was all brought to a grinding halt once the finals began and a terrific campaign was rid of such an awful side.

Not to say there isn't anything to like about the Penrith footy club. Lewis, Civ and Gordon are all fantastic players and a joy to watch. But the rest of them are horrid, particularly the halves. A team that relies almost solely on high kicks to score points belongs at the foot of the ladder and I hope that's where they stay. I blame Luke Lewis and Matt Elliott for this negative and cynical type of footy and before too long we should be seeing them banished from first grade ranks if this ineptness continues.

I do feel for the fans because I too know what it is like to support a poor, one-dimensional side. You too should be praying for a thorough cleanout of your club such as the one we received.

David Simmons is quite a speedster in his own right and will do the job in the centres.

My tip is for the more experienced and hardened Penrith pack to steam-roll the Knights back to the days of youre and eventually tire out the backs to the point of a hiding.

And people have to remember (to which they conveniently don't) Penrith didnt come 2nd on last years ladder for nothing.

With this and coupled with the odds that the TAB are giving,Penrith to win with a comforting ease.
 Epic. Fail.

Not even your Toyota Cup side could "win with a comforting ease."

A valid criticism if we lose tonight. Until such time, @ bitter, sore loser.

Obviously your reading skills require some work, I was talking in a past tense, noting the fact that Andrew Ryan has led around some pretty inept Bulldogs sides in the past, happens to most captains.

Sore loser? Pffft, I expected them to lose and I expect them to continue to lose until Matt Elliot is fired
