Marshall Chalk didn't run for 250 metres, save 2 tries and have a fair crack at a 60m field goal.

Hayne tries his guts out for his team and with no other attacking options at the Eels he's the most heavily marked player in the game. All the other guns have a sidekick - Thurston (Bowen), Marshall (Farah), Smith (Slater) and Carney (Pearce).

Hayne (Robson)

That game last night is a perfect example why i will never follow AFL or union. Amazing game, both sets of fans should be proud of their boys. It's not often I will stay up for the 2nd game but that game kept me entertained from the kickoff. I'm just so happy we got the Sharks broncos game live up here.............. That deserved to be the QLD game without a doubt, I mean who wouldn't want to watch that?????:roll:

Offside or not (what team ISN'T in those situations?) he was still hardly crumbling under pressure considering he came up with the match saving play with no time left on the clock
pearce wouldnt have been anywhere to be seen in that situation

He also nearly blew it by giving us back the ball immediately after he caught it. Had Soward received a bit cleaner ball he wouldn't have had a chance of stopping it.

there was 5 seconds left. He tried to offload to a support runner - he was trying to win the game...

[shouldn't have done that, but no big deal.]

the raiders brigade get a different version of events in their feed from WIN....

The raiders feed showed Dugan subbing on for Parra; charging down the kick and then running back to bruce with it to score the GF winng try.

It also shows Tilse doing something good.

I get why he did it however it was a stupid move. It potentially gave us another shot at field goal, luckily for him it didn't pan out that way.

Soward likes to hit them from 20m behind the ruck though - so no real danger.

BTW - thought soward controlled golden point very well. He's not a guy who sets up tries though passing the footy; he's an organiser and kicker; he pushed his forwards forward and kicked to the corners until he got a shot at a drop goal.

I would've liked to have his organisation on the Eels team - we looked like headless chooks in Golden Point. No real "plan" for how we were going to win.

Soward has slotted quite a few without any structure, there was still a danger. Fien, Hornby and Boyd can all slot them as well.

Soward did show his class in extra time though, he steered around the side beautifully even if some clueless twits in this thread think he should have had his hand on the ball every play  Realistically though, we should have slotted a FG but a draw was the most fitting result for the contest. Both teams put on a great show (even if we were below our best).

Inspirational play from players like Hayne, Hindy, Fui, etc. Hindy made 71 tackles in that game. Unbelievable.
And a big surprise, Gasnier was pretty quiet the whole night; really kept pinned up by Loko. Honestly, for an 18 year old, Loko is improving out of sight and it's scary to think how good he could be.
Credit to both teams, it was an arm wrestle the whole game and neither side gave up.
I think, from an Eels perspective, the 'attitude' Kearney is trying to instill at the club is really starting to show its' presence.

Everyone remember how Gasnier schooled Loko in the last game between the two sides?
Well apparently - I didn't see it myself - but Gasnier, after the game, went right over to Jacob and gave him a big pat on the back, because I think Jacob did draw 1-1. Good on him. A great gesture that will surely be a massive boost for Loko's confidence.

I dunno, Gasnier got through a couple of time, including a ridiculous offload after which the Dragons knocked on, he played well. Not to take anything away from Loko, he was good as well, but Gasnier wasnt just quiet.

It's a hame about injuries and France with Gasnier, because at his best he's been one of the best centres to watch play. Hasnt had the consistency of the other good centres of the last ten years (hodges, Inglis anyway).

If you're defining consistency by Hodges and Inglis, you're in trouble...
Hodges at the broncos has been pretty consistent.

Inglis in the non-salary cap years as well!

I mean if we compare Inglis last season and Hodges in his last year at the roosters you'd have more of a point.

But Gasnier certainly lacked consistency, which was largely a product of regularly coming back from injury IMO, as well as Nathan Idiot Brown and his idea of Gasnier at 5/8

Scary how good the mid-decade Dragons could've been with a better coach
