I hope souths win

1. To shut the dogs supporters trying to take limelight from the club. Souths did enough to win last week and were below their best. Knights played tougher than they have all year. Contest between those 2 sides are usually tough affairs

2. To shut down Melbourne can't stand them!

Too tough to call this one.

Basically it will all come down to how good a game the Storm let GI have. I dont recall him ever having a great game and his team losing.

Positive for us is the composure 3 will have on the team, still worried about the pack though. Souths have shown a weakness out wide but doubt we have the 3/4's to exploit that

At the end of the day, 26 rounds, the Storm scored the second most and conceded the least points of any other team. They finished second on the ladder by one win, to a team that had little origin impact.

With the exception of their post Origin hangover where Slater was missing along with Chambers...they've gone on streaks of winning 9 and 5 games in a row.

Now they play their next two finals at home where they win close to 80% of the time.

And no ones picking them this year.

I'd say they're building nicely.

Storm are flying under the radar with the media as well...Bellamy will like this.

Souths do have a big forward pack and will use this in the early stages but Storm are known for their strong finishes in the last 20 mins and will target the flanks at this stage.

Slater is due for a big one and this could be the game of his season.

Don't be surprised if Souths jump out to a 8-10 point lead but it if whether they can sustain it will be the big question as Bellamy will adjust the structure if this happens.

This is spot on for mine.

If we are to win we need GI to have a blinder and our forwards to win the battle on the ground, otherwise they will have the space to get us out wide.

Our advantage over them is in the forwards. We need to smash them through the middle if we're going to win. How Burgess, Taylor and co play is crucial to whether we win or not. We roll over the top of them in the middle and their big 3 won't be able to do damage.

You mention the middle and then Dave Taylor.. which is it cos they are mutually exclusive imo.

I think Souffs are a really good chance of winning this. One thing to consider though, Cronk and Smith won't be kicking it down GI's throat like so many others have this year.

Yeah it makes me laugh when people talk about Taylor and the middle. The guy is closer to a center than anything

That said Asotasi is going great and is exactly what I feel we had been lacking in the middle for most of the year

Melbourne by 12. Home advantage and finals experience to get them over.
In 2005 a young Melbourne team beat the battle hardened Broncos in the first week of the finals. The beginning of a dynasty started there.

Sometimes the less experienced team has to beat the more experienced team in the finals or the same teams will win every year.

At one point Melbourne were the newbies, at one point Manly were the newbies, they all had to beat an established team to get to where they were heading..

BM, there was no dynasty. No premierships, no minor premierships, nothing. It was at the start of one of the most disgraceful acts ever undertaken by a NRL club and Brisbane were just one of several other clubs ripped off by the Storm's illegal actions. Using a cheating side isn't really much of a comparison

Manly were the newbies in 05. The result? They got belted 46-22 by Parramatta. They also got belted 28-0 by the Dragons the following year. The counter example to Melbourne.

The key for Souths is to manage Slater , without him , Storm were average.
The Storm Cronk and C.Smith are better than Souths Reynolds and Luke, however i think GI at the back maintains a balance between both team spines.
Hoffman and Crocker balance out.
Souths advantage is Sutton, Taylor and Sam B , this strength should ensure Souths win , providing Slater is managed .
