Pathetic last 10 minutes. Another loss at home for a very average team. Sharks are developing a winning culture this year. They look like going somewhere.

Geesh your negative, yes we lost, yes we lost a home game, but if you can't see five games in to this season that Ivan Cleary has gotten more out of this team than Elliott did in five years and that we're heading in the right direction you're a fool.

Yep, Panthers have had good and bad moments this year, and are a work in progress, but are clearly better than in recent years. And clearly not the wooden spoon contenders everyone was tipping at the start of the year. Much like the Sharks, actually.

Full credit to the Sharks to ground out the win when it surely looked the Panthers had all the momentum going there way after hitting the front.

We did some dumb things, had a little misfortune and the Sharks made us pay.

Very disappointing for us as we really should have put this one to bed but we gift wrapped the two points with mistakes that cost us.

A little confused about Gallen being penalised diving on a ball in the play the ball from an onside position. How does that work, anyone?

We kick even one of those conversions we win. We had no ball early on & couldn't put a player on the ground yet conceded only 2 tries. Only ended up with 47% possession. So hard to be concerned with the result. Any loss sucks but we tried hard & scored enough tries to win another day Walsh nails those conversions and we win. Not to be.

The refs were out of their element out there. Gallen plays the ball sideways nothing. A player was all over him a penalty either way not play on. In the 2nd 1/2 Burns played the ball forward again a player all over him. Either a scrum or a penalty not play on. There was a dozen of the tackles which Lewis got penalised for let go.

The Sharks slowed to play down well. To bring our backs out of it. Not sure how that would work against the top teams but certainly will win games like that.We never win arm wrestles although we were alot closer then in previous years.

Hard to be concerned with either teams progress so far.

I agree the Sharks were able to dominate the ruck and slow are play the ball down. I didn't think it so much an arm wrestle, we had the line breaks we had the opportunities to secure the two points after Coote's try in the 60th minutes we simply let dumb plays and poor discipline creep in when we should have done better. That was two points 'gift wrapped' for the Sharks when we were clearly the more dangerous side once we got an even share of possession, after the first 30 minutes.

Can't disagree with you fella's. It is nice however to win the close ones for a change. As for the refs, meh what's new about inept refs.

My question about gal being penalised wasn't a complaint it was a genuine question. What is the rule? I have never seen a penalty when the guy was clearly onside and the ref says you just can't do that

The more red wine I consume the more it rams home how we gifted the two points to the Sharks. Three tries to two, more line breaks, less penalties and the ones we did receive were not in key positions such as gift wrapped two point convertions. Hugely disappointing outcome and the Sharks should feel blessed this evening to be on six points.

If Coote doesn't make simple stupid mistakes or we have a decent goalkicker, we win a game we should have had no chance in.

Coote IMO has been well below first grade standard this season and even with Flash out injured I'd be looking at replacing him. Outside of decent support (which any fullback should offer), he has absolutely no redeeming qualities this season. His usual reliability under the high ball and at fielding kicks has been non-existent since 2010, and the only time he looks half decent is when another player in the same situation would have looked invincible.

What, like Manly?

Even in our poor years after 2008 we were a tough challenge for the top grinding sides like Manly and Melbourne. And if Melbourne can be said to have a weakness, I believe big forwards can trouble them (like Canberra did). I'm confident we can bring many" backs out of it", which we need since ours are comprehensively outclassed by every other squad.

But we have struggled in many close games, last year losing a lot by a small margin, but we seem to be winning some now. Carney as some class may help, but really, a lot of close games come down to a bit of luck. Not much luck v Tigers, a bit of luck v your team. I'd be happy to swap the results- get the win v the tigers and lose to Panthers, but it is what it is. I think the Panthers showed their ability to hang in there in the first half, and can win arm wrestles on the back of that.

As I said, I think both teams look clearly better than last year, and as you say, are progressing well. A season of cautious optimism for both sets of fans.

You seriously need to get over your Walsh hate plenty of kickers have missed goals from the positions walsh missed those two from tonight.

Very disappointed after last night. Yes if we kicked just one of those conversions we win so it's a tuff pill to swallow. Bottom line is we are still showing improvement and am becoming more impressed with the boys each week. There's only been one game this year (souths) where we didn't turn up to play, yet we still showed some ticker in that match. The future looks promising panther fans, keep your chins up. Well done sharks. Well fought tuff win

He is being honest with Walsh, maybe the goalkicking is a bit harsh to have a crack about that.
But he is honest in his assessment of Walsh's general play.

Yes, we lost although we scored 3 tries to 2... but there were are other factors such as bad goal kicking that led to our loss, such as not having any urgency in the lead up to the Carney field goal... I could sense it 2 tackles out sitting in the grandstand. Did any of the players?

I'm not too disheartened. We tried hard but played dumb. But we do look a better unit under Cleary, it's a week by week thing.
