I noticed towards the end when that Robbie Farah incident occured, it looked like when Thurston was dragging him, Farah's hand touched the sideline. However, the touch judge still let the play go ahead. Nevertheless, that should've been a penalty. What Thurston did was a penalty any day of the week in the NRL.

Also, regarding that Hodges try, I can 100% guarantee you that if that was NSW who did what he did, it would've definitely been a no-try. I guess that goes to show just how important the home ground advantage is. Lots of grubby misdemeanours from QLD, as well as Cameron Smith's infamous forward passes (COME ON! That pass to Inglis, who nearly scored, was a mile foward), went unnoticed by the officials. As many have said in the media before the game, Archer does have a reputation of bowing to the home ground under pressure and tonight was no exception.

Overall, Origin aside, the quality of the refereeing has been absolutely abysmal this year in the NRL, even with all the additional technology that is used. I don't know what the solution to this problem is. However, Just "sacking" (aka "resting") a ref/video ref for a week as "punishment" hasn't solved anything. All those people who were cheering when Robert Finch got sacked may have celebrated too soon now that Bill Harrigan is the referees boss. Looks like you either get the devil in white or the devil in black, whichever way you wanna look at it.

Who is everyone going to blame now Kurt Gidley isn't playing?

:lol:One of your best, mozza91. For all the crap he's copped on this forums (and yes, I know he is far from a naturally-gifted footballer), Kurt would've contributed a lot more than players who got selected, like Ben Creagh and Jamie Buhrer

The Williams high tackle call on Cronk was just as decisive as the Hodges debacle of a try.
The amount of high shots that weren't called prior to that made the call ridiculous.
Also Tate's blatant dog shot going unpunished was criminal.
Two holding down penalties out of nowhere also proved costly.

Agree wholeheartedly with the above.

Refs just need to be consistent and they haven't been. High shots, hold downs and dog punches were all penalised inconsistently.

Beau Scott got to a point where he thought either Hannant gets it or Hodges passes because Hodges can't run behind Hannant. You can see once Hannant gets in front of Hodges, Scott back pedals anticipating a pass which creates enough space for Hodges to get through.

The shepherd rule has always been pretty black and white, can't run around a decoy, it's why players often put their arms up when a team mate runs around them so the defence knows they're not getting the ball, it's why players often surrender when a decoy over runs them or runs the wrong line, don't worry about the defence, half the obstruction calls in the NRL are actually more a case of bad defensive reads.

Scott shouldn't have chased, his defensive reading actually worked against him.
He stays on Hannant and it's a def no try.

undertaker - you can actually touch the sideline when a tackle is completed, or when in the act of playing the ball, and it's play on. Strange rule, but that's how it is.

Farah should have stayed composed and just played the ball.

hehe i remember they changed that rule way back when hopaoti was playing for manly...he would be in dummy half with one foot over the line when passing it back in field. but yeh...odd rule.

Veritable, rofl. Might wanna try dictionary.com before you use words you don't the meaning to.

As for the game. Wow. One of the best SOO games I've ever witnessed. JT shows why he's the best playmaker in the game, GI shows why he's the most destructuve runner in Rugby League, and the QLD forwards showed massive amounts of heart to dominate the NSW pack after being dominated themselves in games 1 and 2.

I can't believe the amount of butthurt crying over the refs, FMD you lunatics. If you can't enjoy that game last night for what it was, you are a f**king muppet and should go and burn your eyes out with acid.

QLD too good in the end. Going for 8 straight next year. Oh yeah.

Brilliant game. Well done Queensland-too good in the end:clap:. Cooper Cronk- wow, what a kick.

I felt sorry for Farah who dropped the ball towards the end which made the result certain. He has played awesomely all series and, along with most of last night's starting forward pack, should be the first player picked next series. Josh Morris was fantastic too.

On the Hodges try, I thought it was 50:50 but Beau Scott did make a poor read. I'm not 100% sure that Ben Hannant did anything to impede our defensive line.

Origin is definitely not dead and I can't wait for next year's series.

Excellent exhibition match. The team with most of their players from Queensland did very well. The young NSWelsman playing for them at fullback was very good indeed.

People who have parents closely related can rejoice! Their cousins won a game of football. That should alleviate some of the doldrum of living in Australia's version of Alabama. The banjos will be playing all night.

The kiwi prop NSW had did well for them too, you know you guys should just ditch Pearce and Carney and select the Kiwi halves, i'm sure Benji and Johnson would do well in origin.

The last bit is a laugh considering you are from campbletown. Bet you never got diciplined by your daddy growing up, might have helped if you knew your daddy in the first place, might have been possible if your mom knew that as well. Could be anyone in campbeltown really, including the neighbours dog.

Don't worry we have sent this for you

I'm sorry I must have missed the f**king halo's above the Blues players heads.

BOTH, that's right BOTH sides played very dirty in that match, not just the Maroons. Yes Tate did a cheap shot, so did Gallen which started it all, but nope no NSW fan will admit that, they were to blinded by his Halo and in awe of his angel wings.

Maybe I should say this in a language that Blues fans understand.

whhaaaaaa whaaaa refs fault whaaa whhaaaa sook cry whaaaa origin is dead whaaa whaaaa whhaaaaasook whaaaa whinge whaaaa refs were paid off whaaa whhaaaaa cry whaaaa

that should cover it, no wait

whaaa whaaa qld played dirty whaaaa whaaaa the blues didn't :sarcasm: whaaa whaaa tate threw a cheap shot whaaa whaaa what did gallen do :sarcasm: whaaa whaaaa

While that is true if the player in posession does it, but in this case it was a 2nd effort from Thurston which put Farrah into touch . Should have been a penalty or at least raise his flag so a call from the ref could have been made. Saying all that , Robbie should never have lost concentration over it.

For that particular incident, even though Thurston made the second effort with the tackle, which is a discretionary decision by the refs as to whether it warrants a penalty or not, the fact that his hand went into touch is moot because he's allowed to go into touch in the act of playing the ball, which he was doing, hence the touch judge didn't put his flag up. Farah should have just got up and played the ball instead of carrying on like a numpty. His team had posession 30 meters out from QLD's line. Just get up and play the damn ball.

Pretty sure it's Thurston who has the angel wings on his back. Tate's dog shot was a dog act (like Jennings' in game two) and should have not been allowed to pass unpunished.

Disappointed with the result but it was a cracker of a game. One try Queensland scored I think was a bit soft. When it got to 16-8 I started to think they might run away with it but thankfully we fought back.

Could've gone either way though.
