Gee the better team hasn't just lost but fairly comfortably in the end. If you looked at the stats you would assume the scoreline was the other way around. Grant best on the park despite being on the losing side. Graham next.

Gotta give credit to the Bulldogs defense from what I saw. They showed the other teams how to defend on their goal line. Newcastle could take some tips.

Dogs played poorly yet came up with the points - promising signs given Penrith didn't give them all that much.

Injuries to the backline really hurt Penrith. Coote was off and the backrow was disappointing.

Great props game tonight.

Also I must mention Josh Reynolds. He seems to desire killing people. Watch out for him after his career we might have a serial killer on our hands.

Ironic that Coote basically played Gordon into the fullback jersey after that game but Gordon won't be there to take it.

Who will play wing next week? Will the Panthers give Watene-Zelezniak a run?

BunniesMan is 3/4 for the week so far. I called this. I reckon the Doggies will be a top 4 contender.

That's how highly I rate Des Hasler. IMO he is better than Bennett and Bellamy.

Same inept performance just like last years lot.

1/2 and Tigue has to go,no question about it,as that pair are absolute rubbish.

Dumb game from Lewis,Jennings tried too hard and when with the ball was usually caught in no man's land.

Long year ahead especially after losing Gorden who is 70% of our points scoring and setting up.

With the ball we had in their 20,we should have shellacked them by 30-40 instead we have an embarrasing week ahead of us.

I know it's only been one game but hopefully this should dispel some of the doubt surrounding James Graham, he was awesome tonight. Have to have a laugh at the Ennis bashers, he didn't play overly well tonight, but he played exactly how I thought he would, like a bloke who hasn't played a game in 8 months

A much better second half, but we have a lot of work to do. We were far from brilliant.

First of all, the rule in which an attacker gets the penalty when they run the ball into a big hit and get their head in the wrong position is dreadful. Pritchard laid on probably the biggest hit you will see this year and it knocked Simmons out at no fault of Pritchard's, yet he will now probably miss a week due to being placed on report.

Our forwards were very good I thought. Pritchard and Kasiano look the same as last year to be honest, in terms of lack of work rate. But Tolman and especially Graham were awesome. Graham especially was easily our best player. His go forward and ball playing was bloody fantastic and his overall work rate was very high (over 40 tackles.)

Having Ennis back is a very good thing for us, but also resting him and using Romelo is going to work very well I think.

Now to the negatives.. Lots of errors (yes in wet conditions but still) and a terribly high penalty count won't please anybody. They need a lot of work in the area of discipline and basics for mine. Once we nail the necessities we then have the platform for a team that can go a long way.

Reynolds was very good at 5/8th I thought just with his aggression. It brings something we have always needed and his over all game wasn't too bad at all. Hodkinson was very quiet so our halves definitely need work but I don't think they should be changed. They need time to gel.

Overall, very happy with a first up win in tough conditions in which we were statistically annihilated but were the better team with ball in hand and in defence. Oh yeah, did I mention our goal line defence looked terrific?

Sandor Earl if he's available, I hope MWZ gets in though, been hoping for him to get a chance in forever.

Turning point was when Ennis came off and Romelo came on I thought.

Definitely. But a lot of Dogs fans have always had big wraps on Romelo, I actually had him starting 5/8th before the season started, but I like the way he can rotate with Ennis. Ennis didn't look on song, but as I said, I wasn't really expecting him to be
