Don't worry Vic, we aren't blessed with decent halves like your club.

You want to judge him on one game you have seen him play then good luck to you.

I would love to see him play behind our FG pack, but maybe that is my Souffs myopia.

Newcastle are a good chance here, we definitely have a weakened squad. I think we will look like this:

1. Merritt
2. Everingham / Hunt
3. Champion
4. Walker
5. Goodwin
6. Keary
7. Reynolds
8. Tyrrell
9. Luke
10. Lima
11. Lowe
12. Clark
13. Peats

14. Asotasi
15. George Burgess
16. Tom Burgess
17. Turner

Keary will start at five eight, assuming Sutton plays SOO. Very keen to see how he goes, hope he lives up to the hype

George and Asotasi are dropping back for poor games. Plus George is clearly better as an impact forward. Tom isn't as far along as George but is probably next in line. Turner is probably our only other backrower in contention so I think he will get a spot, the other three benchies are props

The starting side might not have the attacking ability of the usual squad, but the bench will provide a lot of impact and the 11-13 are our three best defenders so they should tighten up the forward pack. Fortunately a few injury ravaged years have made guys like Tyrrell, Clark and Peats into experienced first graders

Burgess fighting his charge at the judiciary.

Can someone tell me (loading aside) how Jeremy Smith's tackle (where he copped six weeks) was that much worse than Burgess' effort (where he's only going to miss one week if found guilty)?

I don't see how you are even trying to argue they are comparable. Smith's was a head slam that ended with an elbow colliding with a players face, Burgess's was poor wrestling technique same as Guerra this weekend

... when it was hardly a head "slam".

FTR I'm not saying Burgess should get six weeks, just trying to figure out how one is that much worse than the other when the players momentum was a factor.

Oh and the fact Burgess basically squashed Fifita's neck. It's a classic crusher tackle, but it's the judiciary so it depends what card they pull out of the hat. Anything's possible.

The judiciary is not consistent, there is no explaining their logic. They judge on flavour of the week and are influence by media melodrama. Pretty much the only consistency you'll find from them is that Billy Slater wont get charged

I think the fact the head slam resulted in Matt Robinson leaving on a medi-cab made them grade it higher (Grade 3 Dangerous Conduct). Then 'cause he unsuccessfully tried to fight it he got the full suspension with 50 percent loading rather than early guilty plea which would've been 4 games. After that he ended up with 6 games.
