In the last seconds Tyrone Roberts has a 3 man overlap outside him and passes to a Melbourne player.

How can Newcastle keep an imbecile like this?

At the post match press conference Bennett said two important things: (1) He was pleased with Gower
(2) Buderus will be available for the next match.

My conclusion: Buderus should play at hooker and Gower at scrum half. This is the only combo, along with Mullen at five eighth, that will allow Newcastle to make the playoffs.

Pleased with Gower ?...a few passes out of dummy half and thats about it.

Must've missed the half-break he initiated with a short ball at the line. Only so much he can do with the time he had on there.

He put in a nice touch finder from dummy half when we needed it, too. We looked much better with Gower on the field than Waddell. Waddell is total poo. Tries hard, but poo.

Buderus back after the bye.

And the break he made himself through good vision out of dummy half

He took a bit to warm into it but the class was still there

Amazing what happens when you start playing good sides, the only reason the knights were ever in the top 8 this year was thanks to soft serve start to the draw...

What's your point? At the start of the year when you blokes had a tough draw you couldn't win a game. The only reason you're picking up more wins now is because you're playing easier teams. What do you think is going to happen when you come up against a top side again away from home? I wouldn't be buying your grand final tickets just yet.

As for us, if we play like we did today for the rest of the year we'll win more games than we lose. Especially now that we're starting to get players back. What worries me though is that we only play well against teams we're not supposed to beat.

On one hand, it's frustrating to lose yet ANOTHER game after holding a good lead but on the other, the boys played incredible. Mullen was complete class all over the field. Easily one of the form halves of the competition and it's sad to hear so little about him from the media. I was also happy with Gower's time on the field. After 5 years, I didn't expect much from him but he delivered more than I expected. He'll improve in the coming weeks.

Waddell should end himself. Seriously. Thank f**k Bedsy is back after the bye.

If we play like we did today, we should win the majority of our games left this season.

This match so far had the least penalties blown in it with 6. 3 a piece. This season hasn't been very enjoyable for me due to the inconsistency of refereeing and the stop start nature of the games this year. This game was allowed to flow well within reason. Henry pretenses is turning into a good ref. I think more players should look to reffing after their career as they're the best to judge games.
