We got beaten fair and square, but no disgrace there we put in a great game and the Souths had to produce their absolute best to beat us. We'll be there in the finals.

Agree with that bit, but not the rest.

We put in a great half, not a great game. If anything our second half was one of the worst of the year.

Souths were nowhere near their best, they did what they needed when they needed to do it, the mark of a genuine premiership contender. Nowhere near their best.

So what exactly is their absolute best? Scoring from intercepting loose passes? Picking up the scraps from bombs? Fly kicking a bouncing ball? Or the patented "throw your centre the ball on the last tackle and hope he grubbers and regathers" play?

Souths will be unbeatable if they keep getting that much luck over the course of a game but jeez, they'll need to do better otherwise.

Don't mind the Warriors fans, it's a shame they were represented in here by a bitter collective of fans of other clubs that can't get their feeble minds across the fact that Souths aren't terrible anymore.

3,2,1 Derpy M's for this week:

3 - skeepe
2 - Swarzey
1 - Danish

--

Commiserations to the rest of you...you tried your best but these three clearly stepped it up a full level of geniusedness tonight.

Oddly enough I didn't carry on as much.

But thanks for the Derpy M points. I enjoy laughing at the complete and utter joke that is South Sydney and I'm glad to see my comments get some form of recognition.

Score like didn't show how close it really was...Souths did what they had to do to win. Warriors probably would've beaten most sides tonight though

The fibrillating worriers defence in the final 10 minutes was worrying...

For the first 20 minutes of that second half the Souths just pounded our line with everything they had and we repelling pretty much everything except for like you say a few opportunistic tries. The point I was trying to make was they were going all out and we saw them eye to eye most of the way. Maybe it was a poor choice of words.

Overall they probably deserved to win but it was much tighter than the blowout in the scoreline. Most NRL teams would have folded earlier than that.

I really don't think so, that scrambling defence was probably some of the best we've shown this year and they had a lot of ball and were in our half almost all of that second half. Johnson and Mateo threw away what little attacking ball we had.

We fell apart just a little towards the very end but our defence got put through way too much work, we just couldn't get enough ball in good territory.

No doubt that if this were 10 or so rounds ago Souths would've put the cleaners through us. Our defense, especially defending our own line was excellent and forced Souths to rely on kicks and some unusual bounces/pieces of luck to score points.

The problem though is that most of that defending on our own line was a result of some serious mental and technical flaws that a genuine challenger just shouldn't have and we display far too often. Talent will only get a team so far.

The good news is that we have a bye next week so have a chance to freshen up for the run home. We'll only be two points outside the 8 or even on equal points if results go our way. It's our F/A that's going to kill us.

Tigers game becomes a must win.

Agreed, our attack was poor in the second half but I couldn't call it "one of our worst performances" given some of our outstanding defence.

Of course the second half score was 24-0 :? But we all saw how those points were scored.

Yeah some really dodgy refereeing both ways today, the Souths should feel like they won by about 6.

Special mention to the way the coverage just refuses to show replays of any dodgy calls going the Bunnies way. There was no way Fish tackled GI in the air, among many others.

If we really are playing a level of footy that's top four material then we need to put a couple of 30+ hidings on the so called weaker teams. If we miss the cut because of the points differential then we just have to accept we weren't up to it this year despite the last few weeks.

I agree, except our F/A is so horrible because of losses to those so called lesser teams. I worry about the Tigers game. I don't think it will be like the Panthers game, but it has that same "we've matched and beaten some of the best, now we get to cruise against a lesser team" feeling to it that is more likely to bite us in the ass.

When your team is full of wankers, your position on the ladder becomes irrelevant.

The bye and then St George. Round 21 is the start of a tough slog into the finals so we need to maintain our buffer at least until then.
