I had a view of the game last night but it's always hard to tell when your at the ground. I just watched the replay on fox and the referring bordered on farcical.
Souths were never in that game and they back into it, not by good play, not by the tigers falling apart, but through an 8-2 penalty count of all 'interpriatational' penalties. Some of the penalties were justified, however both referees put their whistles in the pockets when souths were defending. All the penalties were deep in souths half and marched them downfield. They didn't have to try and play catch up football at any stage cause they were brought back into it by the men in the middle.
A full strength souths sydney were probably always going to win against a team coming 14th missing 6 of their normal 17, but the refs took the result completely away from the tigers. This has happened time and time again this year for souths. In no way do I think the referees are cheats, however there is no doubt they go out with an idea of who they think will win the game and sub consciously this effects the way they see the game.
As gronk said a team gets these decisions every year, parra in 09, saints in 10, hell I'm even big enough to admit the tigers have been on the end of them before. Souths better hope they go all the way this year cause I doubt they'll get this incredible run again next year.
