England played well it thought. They took the foot off the pedal and their handling deteriorated with the conditions in the second half. Once again I think Chase and Tom Burgess showed why they aren't up to this level. Chase had some good touches but they were far outweighed by the times he got the ball and shut down the play by either doing nothing or throwing it to ground.

Great crowd. A record for the ground.

I thought the backs were good for England, apart from Chase, and all the starting forwards went well. The only changes I would make is drop Chase for Widdop, Burrow to bench and drop Tom Burgess for Sam, Westwood to bench.

Enjoyed the day / game yesterday despite the lop sided score. Chatting with locals at the game and pub a real pleasure. Think some Halifax lads I was with will. have sore heads today ! Going to the Open Day on the Friday also a thrill and got to meet some greats of the game from over here.

Interesting that a common theme I am getting from chats is a keenness to return to winter for the code. Mix of ages in the respondents too.

Only down side to trip so far is almost impossible to find places showing the games. Sports bar in Leeds showed NZ / France on one screen in cornerand then without sound and after missing the first twenty. Thought I was in League territory

Glad you enjoyed your day. Surprised to hear the comments about a return to winter. It's very much a minority view for the professional game but more prevalent among the amateurs from the NCL who have only had a couple of summer seasons. You may be in Leeds, home of the Rhinos, but soccer is still the biggest game in town even if it's second rate football.
