Man this reminds me of 2003 all over again, in terms of the banter and exchanges between two sets of passionate fans.

Rooster Cogburn, despite our fiery exchanges in the past, it sure is good to see you back, and I have to say you're giving a little more credit to the Panthers for their season so far. Even more so than in 2003 so cheers mate!

On paper, the Roosters should win this but our boys are definitely more than capable of causing an upset. We've come this far, despite the overwhelming odds, and not only are we competitive, but we are still winning!!

Panthers in a close one

Like I said, if things don't go the Roosters way early, bet your bottom dollar panic will creep in and it will be all over. Their last 20 mins against Souffs was riveting (lol) & great form going into this game. Panthers by 13+

I am loving the banter and I recognise Panthers have a good chance but what game in the last 2 years has given you the impression that the roosters will ‘panic’ if things don’t go their way early? We regularly give away the first 2 or 3 penalties and usually defend accordingly. On the odd occasion we concede first we rarely concede the 2nd try.

Back in 2003 I thought Roosters would win purely on the basis that they had been in a grand final before and that Pennies side hadn't. I - along with many others, was in that 'you had to lose one to win one' camp.

Losing Friend and three other forwards had me worried but I've been inspired by what Penrith have achieved with a bigger injury toll. Roosters would be more likely to underestimate them if fully fit. I think the boys will give Penrith the respect they deserve. Us by 8.

You obviously know little about the Roosters or the team of that era. Most Roosters fans would concede we were pretty much a one man team. Fittler made the other players around look a lot better than they were. When he left they were exposed.

You were saying Puletua monstered Freddy in Round 20 and he still wasn't right 10 weeks later. Sounds like an excuse to me. I don't remember such an incident. The Roosters had Mini, Wing, Cayless, Crocker, Morley, Flannery, Ricketson, Fitzgibbon and of course Fittler, all top draw footballers, and the tryscorer Hegarty was frequently dangerous as well. The same team had beaten the 3rd placed Bulldogs and 7th placed Knights in preceding weeks in the finals. They played a bit like they expected to win in the first half but threw a lot at us in the second up until Priddis scored and then it was over. The true reason they lost is that they expected to win but were in fact the second best team on the field on the day, something that took both them and their supporters completely by surprise.

What exposed the Roosters after Fittler retired was making him coach.

The main thing that is in our favour regarding injuries is timing. We have had the best part of 2 months of it. Chooks have lost a few guns in 2 weeks.

Can't imagine that Easts wont win this. But the good thing for the Panthers is they have no pressure on them. I will jump for joy if the Panthers pull off the upset.

I think the Penny fans are being more cocky than us, tbh.

This is quality banter guys! Let's hope it remains in good taste regardless of the result.

Only making the best of a great situation Tommy.

It's been 4 years (2nd) since we made the top 4 and we are making the most of it.

If we go out in straight sets, stiff cheddar,as long as it's to fair play and the refs don't give everyone something to frigging moan about for years to come.

If we do bow out,I'll be on the Easts bandwagon being that I used to watch them quite regularly in the 70's when I was working in Sydney.

If they don't make it,the Cows would be my next pick as the smokies.

EDIT:From the 2010 Qualifying Final, there will be only one player from that side who will be playing against Easts on Saturday,Sam McKendry.

Trent Robinson confirms Jake Friend completed training today but is NO chance of playing against the Panthers.

Great news for the Chooks.. Cows will be tough to beat and theyve shown good form in Sydney of late.

I think the Panthers fans in here might be doing a bit of trolling. I'm sure there are plenty of fans who are hopeful of a win and know it's possible, but I doubt there are many who think it's a sure thing.

Just as long as the boys keep playing the way they have been, and are that extra bit fired up for what will be their first ever finals game for many of them. I think we can make an 80 minute game of this, while the bookies would have it as game over before halftime. Who knows what could happen on the field during the game. Pearce could pick up a niggling injury in the opening minutes and the Roosters could be struggling to adjust all night. Likewise the same thing could happen with the Panthers and Soward.
