if it wasn't for benj panthers would have lost that, they have a long way to go to compete in the finals.

carty needs to be in this side & get more time! they have a lot of potential for the next few years, some great young talent injured? jennings, DWZ & the fijian kid! just need 1 or 2 good forwards, maybe move idris if he comes back to a wide running backrower.

i was really impressed with jennings, really want to see how he goes in 1st grade.

what's the story with idris, is he coming back? should have been playing origin.

We just had a bad night. All the mistakes were on our line.
We tried to lose, but couldn't.
Defense very good.

I'd say Cleary took Cartwright off as a precaution.Just easing a young forward into the game is the best way of going about it.

And besides,I saw him took the hardest hits I've ever seen him take.

So I'd say it was precautionary.

Idris was seen in the crowd during the NSW Cup match which to me is very promising.I hope for his and for Penrith's and NSW's sake,he sorts out what he needs to.

Pretty proud of our boys on a gutsy effort tonight with a lot of players unavailable.

Our boys ripped in against a full strength Penrith side, can't wait to meet them again on our turf.

Full strength?

Jamal Idris, David Simmons, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Adam Docker all were ahead of players chosen. On top of Tim Grant being our best prop but not selected. Dragons dominated field position and possession to still not win. Led the penalty count comfortably and played Panthers at their absolute worst.

Deadset Dragons if they were remotely competent win that game easily.

Tim Grant played reserve grade so that point is void. Only one of Simmons or DWZ would have played.
Hardly missing the strike power we were.

You know I've always liked talking with you MX, but if you think we dominated field position in that second half, you must have watched a different game to me. We were camped in our half for all of the 2nd half after the 1st 10mins.

We played with 16 men for 70 minutes, had our best attacking weapons out of the side and our best forward.

Penrith played as well as they were allowed to. Hence when you come up against better teams they will have a bit of a reality check. Our side is nowhere near the standard of the likes of the Rabbits, Roosters, Manly and others but we pushed you all the way.

I never said Grant was injured, just that he is our best prop and Should be there. He is by far our best prop but Clearly hates him and won't pick him.

Simmons and DWZ out means our 4th choice winger gets a run and he had a shocker. Kevin deadset shit. Just like Wes.

Also if Dugan plays he is out of position at centre and that advantages Panthers. I'm just saying Panthers weren't near full strength. Claiming Dragons gave a full strength Panthers side a run is laughable. We were missing as many players as the Dragons and played our worst game of the year. Dragons should have won that game comfortably.

Both teams were shit and neither side should feel proud of that performance.

Who says we won't play better when we know we have to be switched on? The Dragons are still bog average even with them in my opinion. Of course the Dragons know this as they bag their team constantly for having a weak pack and struggling to score points. We knew we'd win even with a half arsed performance because the Dragoons are so ordinary, lol. Mary McGregor's hardly much of an upgrade on the 'chinless one'. If Dragons had their stars we would likely have played better ourselves. Alot of players had an off night but we still won against St Derpawarra Dragoons.

That said it is refreshing to win a game despite doing everything imaginable to lose it. Also great to win a game we usually choke in.

Not happy with how we played but happy we got a win and lead the comp despite playing terribly.

Crazy talk thommo. The reality is that Penrith were missing superstars like Simmo the limo and intentionally "toyed" with us before winning by 4.

Mate come on....

How does having a class player like Dugan in the side disadvantage us? You aren't serious there.

Dugan, Merrin, Morris, Farrell, Stockwell, Hunt (not that I rate him highly), Stanley all unavailable tonight, and we lost Tyson (who has been our best forward all year) after 9 minutes.

You had Docker and a winger out.

You don't need to be proud of your side, but after what I've seen of our side this year, I'm proud of the blokes who played for us tonight. All we want is our team to compete and they did that.

Even your coach has come out and said your side didn't handle the pressure we put you under too well....his words not mine.

Not exactly. Here's what he actually said,
"There's some things we've got to iron out a little bit as well, but we were definitely tested tonight and for the most part we didn't do too bad. That's pleasing, but something that's got to stick solid under pressure when the money time comes, which is not too far away."

Dragons put in one of their best performances of the year and we put in our worst and still got the W, Happy with that. Dragons look better under McGregor, thought Benji played well looked dangerous when he took the line on.

I thought Dragons were ordinary and lucky to face the Panthers at their absolute worst. For all the claims of us being near full strength, we still had half a dozen players unavailable and most of them would have been walk up starts in the Dragons side too. Every player missing filters through to the lower grade when we have to call players up, yet we won the lower grades comfortably before scraping in our ugliest win of the year.

Dragons led or equalled pretty much every stat except for the goalkicking which ended up being the difference (Thanks Sowie). It's good to get a win despite losing out in all categories. Like missing more tackles, making more errors, conceding more penalties, conceding more line breaks, having less ball and playing huge chunks of the game in our own half. Losing out in those categories makes it damn near impossible to win games.

Panthers just never seemed to find their groove and were stuck in second gear all night. Pretty much any other team would have beaten us easily. Possibly would have lost to every other team. Which is why I can't believe Dragons think they should be proud of that performance. We aren't the Storm or Sea Eagles where you can hang your hat on simply giving them a run for their money. We're the Panthers and played terribly... even the Sharks managed to beat us when we had an off night with an even stronger roster then we used last night.

I'm happy with the 2 points, but not happy with that performance. Thankfully we have a bye this week and can hopefully work on the many issues we had last night. Panthers of 2013 or earlier would have lost that, but we somehow won. So that's in itself a good thing I guess. But for a genuine premiership contender, last nights performance is unacceptable.
