They've got to change that rule on forward passes not able to be ruled on by video ref.

Nevermind the forward pass, just enforce the rules at their disposal:

Downtown Chasers
Any player who is in front of the kicker in a general play kick is not permitted too intentionally advance beyond the point of the previous play the ball until the ball has gone past the offside player.

The dogs player was about 3 metres in front of the play the ball and running down field when te ball was kicked. That's a clear as crystal penalty. No try to the dogs, penalty on the 40 for many who get 30 seconds and about 3 tackles inside the dogs half to try and win it.

It's pretty bloody simple.

fmd that was way forward!!! wtf are these lollipoping refs doing? where was the touchie there??? just get rid of touchies, i'm sick of these merkins doing nothing.

manly didn't deserve to win, they have had a few shocking games this year. most without DCE or snake, foran has been real average in a few games when it matters. he better hope DCE never leaves manly.

shows how bad the dogs are, manly play like shit & still that close. though their defence has been real good & made them look better then they are.

Manly had a bad game, 1st one for a while. Good time to have it as the result wont change much. Nice kick in the bum for them. To be expected as well with rep players out.

Congrats to the Dogs, they played well. Will definitely be in the running come seasons end.

FMD we didn't have our halves, neither did Manly. Also, we have 16 men for 75 mins of the match... all sort of players playing out of position. Both teams are better than that!

Thats the way I seen it , fmd it was simple offside ruling !! How did they not rule on that ?? Im totally puzzled.

Geeze they'd have to play a lot better than tonight to do that.

What?

Given the players we had out, that win was based on aggression and attitude with a perfect game plan to suit the players we had. Manly were outcoached tonight.

Exactly in the past we have seen tries disallowed for something similar when a offside player halfway across the field is front of the kicker and plays no part in the scoring of the try. So why is it now ok especially when that player is now actually part of the try scoring process.

As far as I was aware, when the opposition player plays at the ball everyone is then onside unless they are within 10 metres of the player who played at the ball.

All the players were more than 10 meters away from the Manly player who played at it, therefore were put onside by the fact that he played at the ball. Been the same rule for years

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAAHHAHAH!! Oh how I miss the days where Des would just stubbornly keep naming players out of position no matter how shit they were. I'm sure you dogs fans think this is a smoke screen. You may be surprised at how stubborn Des is. Actually you shouldn't be surprised at all, Trex would of been in lower grades long ago in any other team. Don't get me wrong he is a great coach but stubborn as shit and wont admit to being wrong......EVER!!!

Thought id save my very first post to say...f**k you and get that up ya clackka, where were you tonight?...

Except if they are "downtown", as mentioned previously.

"Any player who is in front of the kicker in general play is not permitted to advance beyond the point of the previous play- the-ball until the ball has gone past the offside players."

In such a case, the player is considered "out of play" as opposed to being offside, and hence can't be put back onside. Clear error by the video ref, but the better team won on the night.

My understanding was that the moment the Manly player plays at the ball, all Bulldogs players are rendered onside. Browne picks up the ball and it's play on.

The forward pass probably should or could've been called but it all happened pretty quick on an odd angle. Either way you can't even remotely suggest it cost Manly the game.
