I knew we "won" a spoon... just as i know you "won" a trophy in 1997. As said, i dont think many people actually recoginise either.

We had to be basically legislated by the sydney clubs to come last to gain entry into the NRL and you had to have most of the top clubs and players removed from the competition to win.

Actually, I think if you asked an impartial group of league supporters who won in '97, the vast majority would tell you the Knights. They're the ones that got the free-to-air and other relevant media coverage. That's the game everyone remembers.

If anything this thread has proven that even you guys kind of know it was tainted. Such staunch defense generally comes from a pretty insecure place.

I bet if i had this arguement with a Broncos fans they'd probably just laugh and ignore it... not you guys, you guys have to come and try and defend it, because even the fans, in their heart of hearts know they were not the best RL team that year and had they faced a full competition wouldnt have sniffed a premiership.
