You're not allowed to stand side by side at marker. Hoffman knew he was not square, but still got involved. That's the very definition of a professional foul.

You can bitch and moan all you like, but markers not square has never, and will never, ever, be awarded as a penalty try. EVER.

Sin bins and penalty tries are for deliberate breaking of the rules. Being maginally offside is not one of them.

Now if Hoffman was jogging back from behind the play and brought him down you'd have a point as that would be a very cynical and deliberate breaking of the rules.
