Nobody is arguing that the players aren't shit. They are. But this is his 3rd season with them. Surely he has to cop the blame for what kind of team he has built by year 3.
Surely by now he should have made a team worthy of a better nickname than PLodcastle.
This. He has put this team together and coached them to play the way he wants them to.
I don't think the team are entirely awful - there are certainly some great talents in there who are being stifled by a lack of motivation and cohesion within the side.
His continued selection of clearly out of form guys like Houston, Boyd, Gidley etc isn't helping matters either.
Bennett had them playing well last year, but they were scarily reliant on Buderus at dummy half.
Slow start to the season with Mullen injured did not help them either
We really weren't playing that well for most of the season. We scraped into the eight, jagged a few surprise wins, and were shown up when we met with a team that wasn't complacent.
Buderus made a huge difference, but we were still frighteningly inconsistent.
