If we dont hammer Saints then we can expect a long season,it will be interesting to see how Nasty goes at 5/8 and whether or not he is going to pull his weight or just be a passenger a la Adam Blair which is the last thing we need .

Thai girls by 12 to 24 points. Anything less would be embarrassing.

Dragons under Price are a laughing stock.

I've been googling boils and I don't see how someone could be hindered by one. It's just a massive pimple.

I still can't believe that this is even happening this week. Dragons are the ones who are supposed to have the disrupted lead up!

Wests Tigers hit by staphlycoccus scare

Daniel Lane
Published: March 5, 2014 - 10:18PM

One Wests Tigers player was described as suffering a "serious" infection and was quarantined indefinitely while another was being monitored and had received a heavy dose of antibiotics on Wednesday night as the club waited on the results of staphlycoccus tests.

Skipper Robbie Farah, Aaron Woods, Jack Buchanan and Pat Richards were all reported in the media to have suffered from boils which Wests Tigers officials said was a form of staph but there were concerns for two squad members who chief executive Grant Mayer refused to identify.

"There is one player in particular who has a serious infection but he has been quarantined," Mayer said. "There is a second player we are watching very carefully and he's been given the correct medication and is likely to play. The remaining players will take the field [against St George Illawarra] on Sunday."

Mayer stressed the medical advice he had received was there was no risk of the players who had been infected spreading the infection to their opponents. Wests Tigers are waiting to receive the results of the tests the players took on Thursday.

"Our advice is as long as we have caught it in time there is absolutely no risk of any player passing it on to another [player]. It is of paramount importance for us to ensure the players are safe and no further risk of infection can happen."

The club was not sure where, or how, the outbreak occurred. However, players from Cronulla – who the Tigers played in a pre-season trial had also suffered infections. Five Wests Tigers players have been affected and it was believed the fact the team had a pre-season break last Wednesday may have helped prevent more from being infected.

One concern for the five players who have been affected by the infection was they would not have trained in five days by kick-off and it remains to be seen how that would affect their performance against the Dragons.

Mayer emphasised the players who took the field would pose no risk to anyone.

Several people from a gym I used to train at came down with the same thing a few years back despite the fact they cleaned the mats consistently. I am guessing this came from an indoor wrestling session.

I don't rate the dragons much this year but they could put out a lot stronger side then that with their roster. Price is a joke, he is entering sheens territory. 3 back rowers (1 an ex center) and a utility on the bench. A never was been 30 year old at 1/2 whilst a promising 22 year old year is in nsw cup.

I actually feel sorry for dragons fans, I didn't realise price was this bad.

Even with the few we have out if we don't beat this dragons team we may aswll give up for 2014.

Thanks for your thoughts Vic, they are being echoed in the Saints forum.

Mate, even with the team Saints are playing, I think we will get up. However, best wishes for a good game, no refs blunders and no injuries.

Yeah I'm hearing its all not too bad.

Apparently Lawrence was one of the players but I think that might have been a rumor.

I really hope we can get a win against the dragons and then have a near full strength squad (with Galloway, Simona and Nufo in the squad) to go up against Gold Coast. We have really struggled against the gold coast recently so hopefully we can muscle up and change our fortunes

Had one under my arm once, most painful thing in the world until you can lance it which is another thing altogether. Then you squeeze green puss out for a week. Not nice!

Sheesh could be an early debut for Corey Brown? Or maybe Simona is good to go in the end? Suppose most likely they move Thompson to the centres, Paterson to the second row and bring BMM or Buchanan onto the bench.
