They were already on the decline a year ago but their greatness meant it would still take a while before they reached the levels of the mortals.

It's not just losing some ability, I think it's also partly them choosing to pick their battles at their age and making club footy a priority. Their heart isn't in it.

On 2014 form Friend, DCE, Sutton and GI are the best hooker, half, 5/8 and FB in the NRL. They deserve to be there. If we were smart we'd have used this test to blood the next generation.

I'd love for them to chuck a Jamie Lyon. Disagree with your selections though, Friend isn't close to Smith, who's main skill is his leadership, which doesn't go away with form. Drop smith and we are lead by Gallen. No one wants that. DCE is in the team, if we drop Cronk we'd be bringing in an inferior player, which is shit. Sutton is nowhere near Thurston. At all. It's hilarious enough to even think about. GI is best in attack but Slater still has him in defense. And considering our heartless forwards this game he wouldn't make a difference.
