Cows lost last 2 games.
Brisbane have been mediocre for a while
Storm havnt looked great lately either

It's that time of year where the real teams contending for the premiership are having a bit of a down period. It happens most years. I guess it's all the hard work put into the first half of the year along with having so many rep players that is causing players to fatigue quicker.

We will bounce back and be ready for the finals like all good teams.

So out coached by Mary?

Is this the point?
Not at all. just highlighting a frantic 15 minutes where decisions could have been made. In hind sight I reckon it would have been wise to bring Jimmy off for 15. Compress the defence, big body in at 5/8 & get some repeat sets.
I also am a fan of Beale. But a huge effort was put in onthat defensive set & we were about to crush them. Instead that dropped kick killed us dead in the water.
Im a bit sick of the wingers costing us through rubbish defensive reads & going for soft option intercept attempts all the time, dropping kicks etc.
We lose nothing by having a look at what else we have in that department & put the current wingers on notice to aim up or pizz off.
plus WE NEVER BOMB THE WINGS. Why?

Flano doesn't like 7 tackle sets and the chance of a catch in the in goal is too high.

It shits me too. Val is tall and has good hands. Chuck a high kick in his direction and see what happens.

We don't bomb to the wings because Feki couldn't catch a cold. Has dropped plenty that have cost tries and barely caught an attacking kick in his career. But he takes a good hit up.

Yep & on the other side of the field we have dopey who goes for the intercept everytime & allows a saloon passage to the try line.
The wings are a weakness. Forwards are doing well. Halves are a pass mark & I can handle them missing tackles because of size & being targeted.

Good onya Jono, haven't seen too many in here looking at the big picture.

We are still in this swinging.

Cowboys have actually lost 3 in a row, btw.

-Val is not on 400k a year.
-I actually thought he tried his hardest to get into the game. He was millimetres away from breaking them open in the middle a couple of times.
- Feki is a terrible finisher. If he cant use his human fridge body to bump off a cover defender he has no plan B. He never gets his legs in the air and those diving finishes that are standard practice for most wingers are not part of his arsenal. He's scored like one try in his whole career off a bomb. Limited player.
- Bird is just rank at the moment. He's not shit, he's just playing within himself. He's a flat track bully. Reads his own hype. Getting selected for origin was the worst thing that could have happened. Hope like hell he is motivated to win a grand final. His first contact in D would have to be the worst in the squad by a mile at the moment.
- On your OP I can't think of a single occasion where a half has been subbed for 10 mins to get his breath back. Not JT, Cronk, Hunt etc etc who get regularly hammered in D. Part of the halves role is to suck up the attention. Lewie has to do a better job of protecting him from the inside. That's what he is there for.
- I heard from within the squad there are a few players with their heads in the clouds. Looking forward to the finals and these final four games are seen as a weird vacuum. Hopefully that was the kick in the arse we need because you cant just flick a switch and get it back.

Was looking forward to your take on things. Are we shot ducks like most in here were saying Saturday night?

Val had obviously been given the rev up to get involved & tried his best. I'd much rather him tagging behind Fifita, Lewis or Gal looking for some second phase play but at least he had a crack.

Your comments about in the clouds is obvious - we are passing time until the finals. Not playing every week to survive will serve us well in the semis.

FG me, you've had a hard on for weeks over Val.

Is that you Sam?

We must have learnt something from this loss. Because every other finals team has. When we play Melbourne in the GF we must be ready for the high speed game . That means the players need to know how to defend against it, how to slow it down.

IF we ply Melbourne in the GF the plan is target Cronk. Simple. He will hit proctor all day. So hit Procter.

Val tried hard We can agree on that. But he came up with zero. Get used to that. That is what he will bring in the finals. Guys like Feki & Leutele provide something very important & that is tackle 1 & 2 drives. They are amongst the best in the comp.
Intercept attempts will not win finals games. Missed tackles & saloon passages to the lines will def lose them for us though.
I dont agree with Flanno not using bombs to corners. We are losing games &/or getting caught by teams that do.
