15 minutes of coaching decisions

-Val is not on 400k a year.
-I actually thought he tried his hardest to get into the game. He was millimetres away from breaking them open in the middle a couple of times.
- Feki is a terrible finisher. If he cant use his human fridge body to bump off a cover defender he has no plan B. He never gets his legs in the air and those diving finishes that are standard practice for most wingers are not part of his arsenal. He's scored like one try in his whole career off a bomb. Limited player.
- Bird is just rank at the moment. He's not shit, he's just playing within himself. He's a flat track bully. Reads his own hype. Getting selected for origin was the worst thing that could have happened. Hope like hell he is motivated to win a grand final. His first contact in D would have to be the worst in the squad by a mile at the moment.
- On your OP I can't think of a single occasion where a half has been subbed for 10 mins to get his breath back. Not JT, Cronk, Hunt etc etc who get regularly hammered in D. Part of the halves role is to suck up the attention. Lewie has to do a better job of protecting him from the inside. That's what he is there for.
- I heard from within the squad there are a few players with their heads in the clouds. Looking forward to the finals and these final four games are seen as a weird vacuum. Hopefully that was the kick in the arse we need because you cant just flick a switch and get it back.

That is a huge worry. Flanno should be putting those thoughts to bed.

I am not surprised one iota to hear some of the gangsters are throttling back waiting for the finals. I also wouldn't be surprised if the coaching staff are scheming game plans for the teams we are likely to play in the finals and are also less than focused on the home and away. I understand the planning for games commences about 3 weeks in advance when the tacticians start the task of determining the strengths of the opposing side by attending the games and building a profile.

I find that utterly unconvincing
Last week on the couch show with stereo it featured a segment with Greg bird with a microphone on field
After the Titans were scored against he asked his team " guys...make your tackles...please"
Tackling is hard
You don't do it with enthusiasm you loose

Earlier this season normally solid first graders like bakuya and Lewis were tackling their guts out
The last month it looks like just going through the motions
It's defence
Get the " grind " back from earlier in the season is a must

What the Raiders did last night is what we were doing up until the Panthers game.

If we get the enthusiasm & aggression in the defence, we will be sweet.

Raiders were up in Melbournes face, particularly on the line, we have to do that again.

we just need to get back to what works for us

good early ball to the edges
good line speed
good first contact
plenty of offloads
kicking early in the set if we're being jammed
variety in the attacking 20m zone, we are telegraphing the sweep play, were has the short kicking game gone? Id like to see the short kick in behind the 2nd rower and centre to put them in two minds about coming up quickly in our face

these are just a few points i can think of to start turning the tide back in our favour, we know whats coming and we are smaller team with plenty of speed so we need to play to those strengths, move these sides around to create the gaps that barba holmes etc need to blow the game wide open

we went the early shift the other night and came up trumps, thats how we have to play

Raiders belted the Storm last night...makes them vulnerable v Moanly (who have nothing to lose) after a 5 day turnaround. 9 day turnaround is perfect timing for us at this time of year.

Beale is not a winger & should never be there, I thought that was obvious about 8 weeks ago.

Leutele lost his spot when he got injured. His catch for his try was excellent, no way Beale catches that & gets over.

he may not be a winger but hes come up with some basic kick defense errors, for someone who is a fullback

loots lost his spot from two poor reads in defense and got put back to the bench in place of beale

beale has made more mistakes than that now and we can certainly do with all the positives loots offers in attack, particularly his early yardage

has to happen, get it done now before finals hit

Val tried hard We can agree on that. But he came up with zero. Get used to that. That is what he will bring in the finals. Guys like Feki & Leutele provide something very important & that is tackle 1 & 2 drives. They are amongst the best in the comp.
Intercept attempts will not win finals games. Missed tackles & saloon passages to the lines will def lose them for us though.
I dont agree with Flanno not using bombs to corners. We are losing games &/or getting caught by teams that do.

Val just needs a little more faith in his centre who never lets players stroll past him

I thought Val tried the hardest.
The 15 minutes of poor coaching was the 2nd half when all the big boppers were on the bench. Sharks could of scored early if Fifita was on but they scored and the match turned, game over.

How bad was that Beale error when he just dropped the ball off a kick. I was so mad. Flanno isn't telling him to drop the ball he just needs to work on his skills harder. Flanno is one of the best coaches and really knows what he is doing
