QLD flanked the ambush by upping their outside back contributions and playing a lot of the ball on the edges keeping their middle third fresh for defence which was where NSW planned to attack.

Watching it live, I thought rather than halves/hookers/forwards, the big difference was the dummy half running by the Queensland backs.

Looking at the stats now I'm home, there was a big difference:

Dugan - 162m
Hopate - 90m
Jennings - 74m
Morris - 52m
Tupou - 67m

VS

Slater - 140m
Boyd - 141m
Inglis - 80m
Hodges - 184m
Chambers - 238m

Close to the difference between the two teams in terms of yardage. Thought Chambers was outstanding, so glad to see I wasn't imagining his work rate.

Funny to watch people flay the NSW halves when we lost by a single point.

Hodges gets better with age and is a freak. Should have been MotM imo.

Chambers was also awesome.

Josh Morris is only in the NSW team because of his proven defence on Inglis over the years, he offers nothing in attack.

So the one where he got the pass from Pearce you said he was on his wrong foot because he received the ball going to his left, yet how can you say he was in position for the second shot when he parked himself to Farah's left hand side away from the posts when as a right foot kicker he should've been to Farah's right and deeper?

I'm not saying he was on the correct foot given the Dugan shot. But he was in front of the posts on the last, as was Dugan. Should he stand outside the ruck to receive the ball from the left and then kick ala Reynolds on Sunday? It's the play before that is the problem in both cases.

The one before, Farah went to Pearce, who went to the right, causing the play to return back left on the last. He is there in position on the 4th. Give it to him.

Farah with a shoulder injury and possible concussion plays 80 for 63 tackles and 0 missed and he is copping stick... Pretty sure Hodkinson had opportunities to kick a field goal and don't even think he was dummy half on the Dugan shot.

Queensland needed a lot more carries to get those metres up to be fair. I just think it shows that our backs needed a much higher work rate to help the forwards out. It wasn't the Queensland forwards winning the metres, it was their backs.

I'd be getting Mansour in as quickly as possible when he's fit.

EDIT: Also, Jennings is not the right style of player for origin in my opinion. Not sure there is necessarily anyone else though.

Except scoring a try that no one in the NSW backline would of scored because of sheer pacs. I do agree that Morris offensively is not where he was in the past few years, but finishing off tries is a valuable asset to have in any game. Tupou and Hoppa (who had a decent game imo) need to be looked at first, before the centres, who were starved of quality ball all night.

Beaver you need to make peace with your irrational hate for storm players. Smith played a tremendous game tonight and you come in here like a f**king twat to talk him down. Your insecurities towards qld/storm players is blatant.

He made a couple of really important 1 on 1s in the last 20 minutes as well. Not sure where the criticism is coming from.

Not sad, it's Origin and it's ordained that Qld must win, I'm stunned we broke the convention last year.

Perhaps you can point out the refs decisions that hurt Qld.

One offside penalty in the entire second half which allowed Qld to get in position to score their try.

And unsurprisingly, NSW didn't get a single offside penalty all game.

But in the set of six prior to Qld getting the penalty, Qld was offside at least 3 times, the commentators even mentioned it.

But that's okay because it's origin and Qld gets the leg up.

You do realise we got 2 offside penalties back to back in the first half leading up to Scotts try right?

Beaver wishes that Cam Smith played for his team;-)

I think I remember a Pearce kick finding the grass Once. Down Billy's throat all night allowing QLD a 30 metre kick return every f**king time. How does he keep getting picked?

At least Pearce was better than Hodkinson.

Pearce tried very hard.

Hodkinson needed to do more.
