I can't help but wonder if comments like this are just in vain efforts to elevate international Rugby League into something it's not. Don't get me wrong, I wish it was much bigger then it is, if only to just stick the boot into the AFL, but right now it's the ANZAC show. England are still hopeless and Samoa and Tonga are too localized.

England are still rubbish? Least they put up a hell of a effort against the worlds best team last four nations, will be more of a challenge beating them in a 3 match series over there then it would be Australia down here I think.

I've never understood why selectors continue to pick fullbacks and centers on the wing in rep games. It's not 20 years ago when you could do that. These days with all the shifts, third man plays, bombs/grabbers etc wing is a specialist position, especially in defence. Any semi decent half/fullback will make a makeshift winger look stupid with ease.

Spot on.

Why not have a strong International calender and Origin?

It's all Rugby League.

Origin isn't about best of the best, it's state v state, mate v mate anyways

I never understand the people who deal in absolutes.

Samoa nearly beat New Zealand and England last year. The World Cup the year before was the most successful ever. Why try and not build on that momentum?

Although I would assume I won't be able to even see it, atleast it's some footy...

But yeah internash rugby league - still a joke
It's a joke because the Aussie team refused to play. Good news is that the RLIF now finally has a legit full-time CEO and board instead of just being a bunch of half-hearted Aussies like it was in the past, so hopefully this will never happen again.

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves.

With the following list of today's imposters, on that form, NSW will win the 2015 SOO 3 blot comfortably.

Thurston, Inglis, Cronk, Smith, Scott, Thiaday, Parker, Chambers and Myles. Include a "fit" Slater and Hodges and there's well over half of the Queensderp team.

Good luck with that bunch of hacks!!

Two words - Hodkinson, Reynolds.

If they're the halves, Qld win.

Oh yeah, I'm really worried going up against those halves selections.

Pearce, Maloney, Reynolds and Hodgkinson  I'm sure QLD are terrified.

And acting like Origin is the greatest is going to grow International RL? It's that attitude that has stymied International RL's growth, the past few years have produced some incredibly high quality internationals, yet the agenda driven moaning from the media still has people believing that Origin is the best. Australia just got done again, the game was great and we could have more regular games like it- what's wrong with that? It doesn't have to mean the end of Origin, just the end of the 'Origin is the greatest' wankfest.

Tamou and Bird should have their names marked as never to be picked for Australia again. I doubt Sheens will have his contract renewed either after that performance.

Congratulations to the Kiwis they deserved to win. Saying that I have never seen a more lacklustre disorganised Australian team ever.

I'm talking in terms of the quality of the football. I couldn't give less of a shit about how much the media want to hype it, Origin is huge every year and would be without their help. Why? Because the footy is always top notch. Taking the biff out of it has stymied the product a bit, I will admit.

IRL is capable of quality games of footy but not quite as often as Origin yet.
