Surely the Australian selectors could find 17 players fit and in their specialist positions. Picking that side was an insult to international rugby league and the performance was too.

The Kiwi's on the other hand had an outstanding game and showed a lot about their character with that defence.

International footy has been far more competitive in the past 10 years than Origin, and has also produced better matches. England vs NZ in the 2013 World Cup and last year's 4N are the two best rep games I've seen in the last decade and maybe the two best full stop. f**k, half the matches in the 2013 World Cup > anything Origin has served up recently in terms of entertainment.
ehhh. That game was very good, and I really want International league to succeed, but no game has had the intensity of game I of last years Origin series in recent memory, it was at another level. Rest of the series was pretty average IIRC but that first game was immense.

Well done to the shaggers. They were scintillating in the first half, unbelievably tough in defence in the second. Thoroughly deserved.

Hopefully for Warriors fans one day Johnson will transfer his New Zealand form to the NRL.

Oh yeah, I'm really worried going up against those halves selections.

Pearce, Maloney, Reynolds and Hodgkinson  I'm sure QLD are terrified.

Can you please remind me of the 2014 NSW SOO halves pairing? Touche!!

I hear Midnight Oil playing Short Memories in the background.

Even game 2, while not a free flowly game, was still intense viewing for the full 80 minutes

And acting like Origin is the greatest is going to grow International RL? It's that attitude that has stymied International RL's growth, the past few years have produced some incredibly high quality internationals, yet the agenda driven moaning from the media still has people believing that Origin is the best. Australia just got done again, the game was great and we could have more regular games like it- what's wrong with that? It doesn't have to mean the end of Origin, just the end of the 'Origin is the greatest' wankfest.

Origin is the monster that continually needs to be fed, even at the expense of internationals,if it is.

We also have to be mindful that this monster continues to draw an ever growing attention world-wide.

The international viewing audience for our internationals doesn't compare to S.O.O.

In saying this, there has to be the return of internationals to be played after the end of the NRL season.

But remember, the S.O.O. is a world class event...it has come of age...so don't kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

my 1/2 cent worth.

Well done Kiwis...far too dominate across the park.

QLDs dads army and Sheens got exploited tonight. You can't keep picking on reputation

I really, really don't understand why they persist with Inglis at fullback. Considering our attack looked just as poor, just as sloppy, just as disjointed as it did in the Four Nations, I can't see it as a coincidence any longer. He just isn't involved enough. Throw Dugan in there and perhaps we don't win but it's a far less embarrassing performance. Doesn't help that most of the side was arse but still...

Well played Kiwis. Freakish goal line defense and without Whare and Taumololololololololo.

how about why do the coaching staff play the same style with two contrasting fullbacks.

As a staunch Aussie supporter, I enjoyed the game immensely.

Good to see our team get their arses handed to them on a platter. Time for a reality check and a complete overhaul. The days of the Storm and Broncos inundating the Australian team should be well and truly over.

Congratulations to the Kiwis for a job well done!!

The Kiwis were far too good in the end. Pretty much dominated the first half, they probably take the footy off the peddle a little bit in the 2nd half but still had enough energy to defend.

Its a disappointing performance from Australia. It just goes to show who wanted it more and in the end the Kiwis played with plenty of passion.

Too many mistakes from the Aussies.

Thanks channel 9 for not showing the presentation for a test match, cut it off so bloody quick

Its Channel 9, what do expect?? They cut off presentations after the 2010 four nations final.

They had important stuff like the News and the Logies to follow and they couldn't be running late for them.

Comment from Lockyer when Dugan is down injured. "Hopefully for the dragons it's not too serious."

Kinda sums up the importance of international footy in his eyes.

Origin has stifled the international game for so long but now the Kiwis are #1 in the world, there needs to be a reality check especially from the media the Origin isn't the pinnical it once was and unfortunately for Australia the can't try to prove they're better than NZ for another 12 months

You've read a lot into that comment.

Considering Locky kept playing for Australia right to the end if his career, I think his support of the international scene is clear.

You are unknowing...yet you moderate.

His comment isn't far off the mark, I live in WA and most people over here don't even know when Origin is on. There was however some interest this week for this game over here as it was Australia playing, not 2 states that people from WA don't care about.
