He barely got him to the point the video ref didnt deem a penalty necessary and soward is squatting to almost parallel. Go up to the screenshot and imagine soward standing.

Like i said its wightons job to charge at the ball carrier and try and obliterate him. If soward hadnt been falling it would have been a legal hit. He did fall and so it should have been a penalty but the fact wighton was throwing himself at soward is neither here nor there. He was doing it because he wanted to belt him so hard that he lost the ball. Ive seen wighton put on a lot of good hits. That is the only time off the top of my head he has gone high.

But he was falling so it was illegal, the video ref f**ked up. It is clear as day a penalty. Soward was out cold and the screenshot shows Soward falling and a shoulder going into his head and both Wightons feet off the ground. If you leave your feet you open yourself up to things going wrong which is what happened. If Soward hadn't of been falling there is still a good chance he gets hit in the chin. Either way Soward falling only effects the severity of the grading not the illegality of it.

Lmfao. Barely got him? His shoulder covers half his face. No player is going to get up and shrug off a hard hit to the head like that. The video that barely showed it was enough for him to cop a suspension for it.

It is a clear high shot. His shoulder connects with his head and it's plain as day. Yet somehow Raiders fans still think it's a great hit even though it's illegal and injured the player. I guarantee they would feel differently if one of their players copped a high shot and the opposition fans cheered it. Although I don't think any teams fans are that low to cheer a player getting smashed in an illegal tackle.

Maybe it's just because Soward is hated. Although he has still never done anything to warrant that sort of hate. He doesn't bash his missus or go out on the piss bringing his club down by getting into shit. if it was a matter of a bloke deserving it. There are dozens of players ahead of him who would deserve it more.

Geez, you Penrith lot carry a grudge. I have absolutely no recollection of this incident, yet it seems to have been at the forefront of your mind all off-season for some reason.

It's not worth holding a grudge over it wasn't serious or intentional, but I can recall the incident I don't have dementia, it was fairly controversial last season on here due to the no call and then suspension.

Like mx just said it's more about a couple guys acting like it was a great shot calling Sowie a pussy and that, like ok wow your big fullback knocked out our little half with an illegal tackle, tough guy. All in all its just some banter.

Soward once walked off Canberra stadium without shaking the players hands in a game the Dragons lost on the bell. He isnt a monster or anything but he is a petulant cry baby and that might rub some fans the wrong way.

Of course not it should have been a penalty. The point being that Wighton didnt dogshot Soward. He lined him up and because Soward fell he ended up taking him high. Accidents happen and the tackling players have strict liability but lets not make more of it than it was.

Might? Wighton and that confused look he runs around with might rub people the wrong way, Soward absolutely does rub people the wrong way, its just how he is.

It wasn't a dog shot and it wasn't anything worth bragging about either, it was an attempted big hit that went marginally wrong. If the game refs had called it right there would of been no need for any further action.

Walking off the field without shaking the oppositions hands having a big ole petulant tantrum is probably more vexing to sports fans than looking confused. People like sportsmanship.

Wighton is a bit of an entitled man baby himself so I could certainly understand someone not liking him. His face though he cant really help that. He doesnt have Sowards form with milking penalties and diving though.

My point was Soward is one of the most off putting players in the NRL, people love to hate him there is no 'might' about it, its a definite. It wasn't a genuine comparison of Wighton and Sowie in anyway.

mxlegend99 was saying that Soward has done nothing in the ballpark of say a Ferguson or a Bird and I agree.

But he is plenty petulant on the field and engages in a lot of gamesmanship. Sure it isnt glassing his misses but nobody is going to like a whinging cheat.

Forecast for Canberra is 34 degrees this Saturday with the chance of a storm late in the day so it's probably going to feel like 38 with all the humidity around.... going to be tough for both teams. Dare I say some of the bigger blokes might be a few kilos lighter when they walk off at fulltime.

I'll say the Raiders comfortably in this one. I reckon they'll start fast and the game will be as good as over by the 50-60 minute mark.

Raiders to win 34-10

If we don't thrash Penrith, I'd be pretty annoyed. Anything less than a 10 point win will be disappointing.
