What kind of support runner is 2-3m in front of the ball?

He certainly can't disappear, and that is the risk you run by running a decoy line. If you don't get the ball you are now an offside player 100% up to you to avoid obstructing any defender. If it's physically impossible for you to do that, you get penalised
