The side obviously needs a shake up, guys like Boyd, Cronk, Papalli, Thaiday etc have been mainstays of this side and are a massive reason why Aus has been so disappointing. I expect if any other countries cared about RL at all then they would already have proper functioning leagues up and running by now. They've only had about 150 years to take an interest. Soccer seemed to catch on pretty quickly.
