Oh f#@k it. Just relocate the Sharks to Perth. Sharks need a decent Stadium. Sharks 2nd poorest club in Sydney along with Manly. Sharks have no operating Leagues club. Sharks cannot afford a NSW Cup side. Sharks have lowest crowds out off the 17 teams. Did i miss anything else?

Looking good for Perth to be next...and the NRL giving PNG more time to get thier ducks in a row so they'll be competive is a good idea.

18 Perth
19 PNG
20 South NZ

Not too excited about PNG but really looking forward to Perth and NZ2
im so excited about png and nz and the bears
its like people didn't notice that the Dolphins just recruited the best 30 players they could find and not a whole bunch of kids from Redcliffe. Perth will pinch players from all over the country, whether they play for another NRL club, a Super League club, Mounties or the Mackay cutters.
Dolphins got in on a promise to GROW juniors in qld

plus they have a leagues club, history and are established

Perth has none of this

NRL teams don't really run any junior development in QLD.

The QRL do though (you know that organisation that the ARL wants to neuter)

Having a Leagues club is also hardly unique, unless you think Cairns Brothers should be the next team in the NRL? Or the Currumbin Surf Club?

“Part of the deal is a $2 million per year investment by the club in participation and pathways to grow the game for men, women and indigenous players.”

In this context, What does this even mean?
Ia there a single metric that places PNG ahead of the other bids?

Its junior pathways are almost non-existent and need to be created from scratch or seriously amended.

Its corporate sector is tiny and unable to stump up the money needed to run an NRL team. Hence the need for the Aus Gov to throw $25m at the team each year.

The National Football Stadium isn't NRL standard.

Most Papuans are subsistence farmers and do not earn a wage. They cannot actively support a team.

Only one in six Papuans have access to electricity. That means 85% of the country won't be able to watch the team play on TV.

The local talent in PNG is only strong enough to compete with the bottom half of the Queensland Cup.

No one will want to relocate their family to Port Moresby.

It's just a really dumb proposal and has zero chance of being anything other tha a pain in the arse until it's canned.

Its not an accusation Moron Matt. It's an opinion which you've taken hook line and sinker.
I don’t think highly enough of you to believe that you could actually hold a personal opinion.

An accusation is just a charge or claim that someone has done something. Fits the bill.

I agree with most of the above. Rigged probably not the term though. It implies that the process of expansion is open to the best possible bid. Whereas it looks like PNG, Perth and NZ 2 are targeted locations.

Awful lot of rubbish being written here. The Storm have proven that you can build a first rate club which wins premierships and rely on feeder clubs from interstate and without a first rate local comp.
Perth’s advantages are it can learn from the mistakes made in Melbourne by focussing on pathways immediately and rely on feeder clubs in the mean time, and they have the full support of the WA government who will make this club work.
If the Storm can do it Perth definitely will.
The endless negativity here about Perth would be humorous if it wasn’t so agenda driven and pathetic.

Brisbane 3 being a realistic option is why Brisbane Easts and any other suitable options in QCup don't want to partner up with any of the proposed bids
Got more to do with the history of the competition.

What would the point be in a QLD club relocating to get into a competition the club has no history with?
