Yeah shìt article, terrible reasons, where was this article when NSW couldn't win a series during 8 SoO in a row of QLDs dominance, it's complete BS, completely talking up the east tigers, why not talk up Ipswich or souths magpies or Wynnum etc
Probably because the Magpies, Seagulls and Jets don't have the resources and aren't bidding for a licence?

I can tell you now there is no such thing as a fallback option..... gold coast titans is living proof of that, along with manly and cronulla still being present, no one is going anywhere.

there's the dumbarse codes like ARU who folded the rebels recently and force pre covid etc and ALeague who created clubs in Townsville, Gold Coast wherever just to watch them implode after a few seasons, unlike those codes NRL will prop up and keep their clubs relevant for the long run, they've done it for multiple clubs over the past 20 years, they'll never turn their back on any of thier brands, not now, not ever
Will the NRL provide an additional $20m per annum for a PNG club when Dutton rips up NSW Labor's dumbarse deal?

LNP aren't going to bankroll a dumbarse NSW Labor policy that is a vote a killer in Queensland.

Knights aren’t basket cases anymore Newcastle wests are minted

manly are owned by a billionaire

Brisbane has two nrl clubs

you would be dividing up the fan base by 3

lol

Two largest rugby league clubs in the world are from Brisbane. The smallest rugby league clubs in Australia are from Sydney, with Manly being the smallest by some distance. Every club makes more money from football operations than the Sea Eagles.

Newcastle have struggled to remain solvent since 1988.

Newcastle do good crowds & membership. Need somebody with a brain to run that club..

If the aim for Perth realistically is to get 10% of the population onboard 200k

Then the same should be the aim for PNG which would make the 1m people not that far fetched

Are you serious, or just defending it because you think it should be against the rules to criticise stupid claims?

The only way they ever get to 1m members is if they give memberships away with birth certificates.

The PNG bid is seen by many of the peanut brigade on here as a $$$$ making exercise.

The whole purpose of the funding by the Australian government is to assist in lifting people out of poverty. The NRL potentially gets a few NRL class players as the by-product.

You don't think the clubs/ARLC have asked the question as to what happens when the Govt money runs out?
