Yet there's people on here who think they've got one of the biggest brands in Australian sport. @mongoose has said sim thing to that effect in the past. The fact is St George are a poor club with few active supporters.
if you actually followed NRL you would know this lol

they played the Titans and were tipped by everyone to get the spoon. Whatever Sydney team is lowest on the ladder is going to get shit house crowds... just wait to see how bad roosters crowds are after a few years at the bottom, and they have a new spanking stadium.

But you said Brisbane was valuable. so valuable FTA gave nothing?
Ironically IF Fox paid $20mill, and its a big IF, it was to get Broncos off FTA so they could get more Brisbane subscribers lol.
At the very best scenario adding Brisbane2 added $2mill to the NRL pot after costs.
Wow, just wow.

It's not that a second Brisbane team isn't valuable to the broadcasters. The problem is the deal was negotiated by a dickhead who didn't know what he was doing and got played like a fiddle.

Abdo on NRL 360 tonight re: the Pacific region “We want to make Rugby League the No. 1 sport in that neighbourhood. It would make sense for an 18th team to potentially have that identity”.
Maybe the idea isn’t so far fetched after all.

That's a great ambition and certainly within the NRL's reach.

I'd love to see the ARLC develop the game in New Caledonia. It's a French territory with a GDP per capita of $37 USD. The FFRXIII want to field a New Caledonian team in the Queensland Cup. With the right investment we could an NRL team in New Caledonia providing talent from France, New Caledonia and PNG with the chance to play in the world's elite professional rugby league competition.

Imagine how great that would be for the international game?

It would be provide Samoans and Tongans with the opportunity to live within the South Pacific and make a good living in one of the world's most beautiful locations. NRL games are broadcast in New Caledonia on FTA.

The fact that all Sydney clubs generate low attendances when they're not winning proves my point, doesn't it?

I've been saying for months that Sydney has nine small clubs. I base this on their low attendances and reliance on gaming revenue and the annual grant. I've backed up my point by showcasing the data provided in the annual reports, OzTam and AFL Tables.

The three largest and most secure clubs in the NRL are the Broncos, Cowboys and Storm. Dolphins have joined them. Bring in the Easts Tigers and West Coast Pirates so we can have a proper competition.
