It’s not selfish, it’s a cold hard dose of reality.
Its very true, there's no point in rushing this VIC2 idea, not when theres NZ, WA and FNQ already at the forefront for the 18th -20th licences as he himself pointed out.... personally i think it should be those 3 areas, one is enough in Victoria, as a niche, just as one would be enough in WA aswell (although it could sustain more in my view, but very dependent one the first one being competitive)

The Dolphins are set to come to Perth to play the Knights at Optus Stadium in a highly anticipated clash.

The game aims to bring the NRL to Western Australia and highlight the possibility of Perth having its very own team.

Dolphins CEO Terry Reader told Adam Papalia he thinks Perth should be home to the 18th NRL team.

“Perth’s in a very good position,” said Reader.

“When they do get round to setting the criteria.. and trying to make our game truly national Perth would have to be the forefront of that.”

“It’s about bringing new fans into the game.”

Pretty funny really, as far away from the Dolphins as possible. No self-interest there.

how many teams does SEQLD need to counter AFL, 4, 5, 11?
The NRL is used to Sydney where they apparently start will start following the Swans if there's not an NRL team in a suburb immediately adjacent to them

I've honestly never understood this argument that multiple teams are needed in heartland areas to "combat the AFL" who have 1 or 2 expansion sides there

If there's other reasons sure by all means but why even mention this one

Whose he vlandys or Badel

to defeat afl you win on your heartland

qld is operation Barbarossa where we turn back the tide and win the war

ARLC. They have thrown up multiple expansion ideas.

How many teams do you need to do that though? It’s a complete logical fallacy.

Having nine Sydney teams hasn’t stopped the Swans from gaining a niche. Having teams in more markets, rather than less is the way to go.

Good argument about Sydney

before super league the swans had little traction just like the storm in Melbourne can only get a nieche

I reckon vlandys is trolling afl it won’t be beisbane next time buts it’s good they are still looking at western coridoor

It wasn't that long ago the AFL toe sucking media stated the AFL was making huge inroads in Qld and would have more participants.
Yet recently Kelly Underwear on the Fluffsiders admitted the Dolphins have certainly impacted the NRL in Brisbane and shown the AFL how strong the game with their following is in Qld.

The Lions have their niche they, you and the AFL should be thankful they got the crumbs off the Brisbane sporting market table .With GWS in Sydney thy couldn't get the crumbs, they had to lick the plates.

The Magic Weekend showed the popularity of the NRL and the professional way it was staged and promoted.
The Gatherers' weekend by comparison showed games being played all over the place in a cluster*ck manner ,very similar to the game.

The funny thing is gill claiming afl is taking over in qld could spur on another brisbane nrl team which is hilarious

im sure he’s looking at the success of the dolphins with envy given the failure of the last two afl expansion sides to make a dent on the sporting market

so which is it? AFL are no threat and therefore no need for another Brisabne club, or they are carving out more than a niche and we have to tqke the fight to them? Its so confusing....

Yeh you are right the two weekends showed the difference between the two sports. NRL was far superior yet earnt a fraction of the money.

or maybe he knows it wont make any difference but NRL continually being afraid to become national actually helps AFL much more than yet another Brisbane club hurts them? Sounds a good double bluff to keep NRL looking at its navel and running in fear, instead of growing the comp.

If the state government (QLD) is still keen on building a 20k-25k stadium in Ipswich, I say go there. Once the Refurb is done on the Sunshine Coast stadium Dolphins can head there.
Broncos 12 games @ Suncorp
Dolphins 6 games @ Suncorp 6 games @ SSC
Jets 4 Games @ Suncorp 8 games @ Ipswich
Plus the titans it pretty much covers SQLD.
